Inner tube prolapse

Fixing one of SWMBO’s grandkids bikes which lost 7.5 psi in about 4 hours. Can’t see any obvious leaks but the inner tube looks, well, not good. Is this possibly the cause of the loss of air, has it ‘gone slack’?

Inner tubes inflating unevenly when not in a tyre isn't a problem and it's not the cause of pressure being lost.

Oh. Can’t find an air leak on either repair patch or the valve. Odd.

It doesn't bode well though, in that state. What size? You can nip down to Poundland for anything 20 to 26" if it's just a kids' bike.

Just got one from Halfrauds, £4.

May re-use the old as a helmet rest or a pile cushion, although I suspect the valve may compromise its suitability for either.

I got a brand new bike that did it, replaced inner tubes, still looses air lol

How quickly do they loose air? Tubes do loose air over time and it's perfectly normal. They are not perfectly air tight, air seeps through the rubber and the valve o-ring (seal). However you shouldn't find your bike with completely flat tyres after just a few hours after inflation. Thumbs Up

By the way, higher the air pressure you run, quicker this air leakage occurs. Road bikes lose air quicker than MTBs, for instance. I run 6 BAR front and 6.5 BAR back on my road bike and this drops to about 5 BAR in about a week.
