was doing a coolant change a couple of weeks ago and made an arse of it.

I disconnected the hose going into the pump, removed the radiator cap and drained the radiator, reconnected the hose filled it with distilled water and then drained it again.
I then filled it with 2ltr of coolant (capacity is 2.8l) and I turned the bike on, to let it heat up, to get the fan and pump circulating.. then let it cool down and added the last 0.8 ltr however I noticed some fluid coming from the pipe and went to check it, it came loose and the coolant went all over the place I reckon it was about 2ltrs I lost.

anyway my coolant arrived over the weekend and I've just put 1ltr in to the bike, let it heat up for about 30 mins (20 min to get to fan temp and 10-15 min running)
the expansion tank is sitting on the full mark and the bike seems to be running normally, should I put another 0.5-0.8ltr in it or leave it as it is ?

Please tell me you bled the system?

Keep topping it up through the filler cap unti it is full and won't take any more.

I left the radiator cap off and the expansion tank cap off, turned the bike on for a couple of minutes, squeezed the pipes, riced the bike from side to side.

Sounds like a service manual would be a good buy/download.

I have done a few bikes and most advise that you hold the bike at certain revs to make sure air and bubbles go through the system. Then you top up to the correct level.

There's typically a bleed screw on the block to open up as well until coolant comes out.
