It's all over the press that Yamaha have dabbed Marmite over their arguably greatest line. Still looks Transformers, robots in disguise to me. If anything I think the LEDs suit it better Thinking

So, really divisive or just a clever talking point from the marketing boys?

Interesting - I've read a few first look reviews and haven't picked up on that at all? Which publications?

I find it hideous, I'm a dinosaur though that would never even ponder buying it. So if I was in marketing I suppose trying to highlight opinions like mine and style it as a "marmite" thing is easier than saying, "this bike is fucking hideous, but we know you pleb fucks will buy it coz PCP innit".

Any kind of "styling" can be called marmite because anybody can pick at things and anybody can counter those points. If the "press" is calling it marmite it's because Yamaha have allowed them too, they wouldn't dare otherwise incase they don't get a press bike Laughing

Just for the LOLs my opinion on it's styling, surprised myself here it's nothing a few aftermarket parts and a trip to a powder coaters couldn't fix

Just seemed to be a repeated mantra from the the YouTube announcements lately.

For anyone who's not been following: the MT-09 has got slightly updated looks, a tweaked engine for Euro 5 and steals a load of upgrades from the MT-10 - all sounds good. The MT-07 however just gets the same visual makeover but no upgrades, same brakes and suspension setup AFAIK, no change to the engine Sad

I prefer mine tbh. But then again the Sport Tracker variant was just to test the market for the XSR900 imo
and I've always liked that bike. My whole frame is black anyway, I got rid of the stock mirrors and exhaust and put
a carbon Akra and bar end mirrors on it, added Yamaha LED indicators all round, lost the goddawful rear fender for a
much better looking tail tidy and put black adjustable levers on it. All pretty minor stuff that I was able to change myself.

All that said, I'm likely to switch to Triumph for my next triple.

Typically, these kind of bikes look better in person to be honest, have more of a presence to them. I find it hard to really care what they look like too much either, just reminds of soy boys screaming about the look of the next console or whatever. Who cares, whats it like to ride, how does it make you feel.

Still, I think the round headlight conversion for them really look the best. https://hosting.photobucket.com/albums/w173/cbreakin/IMG_0346_1.jpg

I dont really get the fender hate either, its the regulation to have the plate further back then the rear wheel, you try designing something to look better? they all know everyone is just going to throw some aftermarket tail tidy on anyway, so why would they throw money into that part?

Did they fix the front suspension though? that was the big shortfall on them when I rode the first gen. Same for the fueling.

For the MT-09? Apparently yes, decent forks, brakes etc. stolen off the MT-10. And as they were worried Euro 5 might hurt performance they upped the capacity and hp slightly.

However, if you're in to triples the 2021 MT-09 is merely... sufficient, the elephant in the room being Triumph. I'm surprised they didn't put a bit more effort in on the MT-07 though with "enter stage left: Trident" Thinking

Fueling was sorted in 2015, mine (66 registered) was after the dealer reflash to fix that issue despite it still being
a gen 1 based bike, easiest way to tell if it's a gen 1 is the lack of TCS. But the suspension is pretty gash I cannot
tell a lie or indeed justify £800+ fixing it. It's part of why I'm 90% sure I'll be switching to Triumph next time round.
It's still a ruddy handful though, not what I'd call merely sufficient although part of that is down to it's pogo stick
like properties at 100 plus on any kind of undulating road surface. Nothing more exciting than thinking "Now... Will
it make it round this bend ok?" during some spirited riding. Laughing

I like that too but it wouldn't work with my front numberboard. Then again it just looks like the XSR with the round light.
