Old iPad.

My old 64GB iPad has 8Gb spare storage but is getting very slow on the internet. Is this because Apple are deliberately driving me to fork out for a new one or is there a reasonable explanation why an older device can't connect as quickly?

My iPad Air 2 has 91% space used and is still ok for the internet, I’m typing this on it.

Yours has 86% used, based on storage, my answer is no.

What model is it? What iOS/iPadOS is it running? What other apps are running in the background?

iPad 4, won't update beyond iOS 10.3.4 and I up-swipe to cancel all running apps,

Yeah mines an old one too; it hasn't been able to update to the latest iOS for ages now. It's been incredibly frustrating that one by one, all the apps I used on it have gradually ceased to function (ie, I just get an error message) - video calls and internet banking being the main ones. Pretty much the only thing I can still use is Google Chrome, and that's really slow so the device is pretty much redundant now. Which is annoying as in hardware terms it's in the same condition as it was when i bought it; and I'd be perfectly happy with using (eg) the same version of Skype as I did a few years ago. But not allowed.

Checked mine on Wikipedia and it’s a 2014, 6 years use, good value IMO.

Makes me nearly justify a new one.
