Hi All

I am looking to raise my '17 plate MT09 handlebars a few inches if possible, does anyone have experience with this and can advise? Would it be better to just buy new handlebars which are higher where grips are or using some risers? Also will stock cables be an issue?

Cheers

Not on an MT 09 but on lots of bikes
Current is an NC750X got an "upand back" 20mm each + a stright rise 25mm works fine but at the limit of the Brake hose

Assuming the cables and hoses have enough slack the simple block risers or up and back blocks work very well

I would be surprised if you didn't encounter problems with some of the controls or wiring being too short, turning it into much more of a job than expected

Don't underestimate the difference that just an inch can make. Can be a huge difference.

Also a slight aside but... I've sat on an MT09... One of the reasons I didn't really like it was that the bars are REALLY HIGH. Are you sure you want them taller? Seems like you might be after ape hangers? Question

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I think perhaps because I'm 6ft2 I find the bars quite low? I really liked the seating position on the tracer 900 which seems to have higher bars but wouldn't be suitable for London traffic which the MT09 handles pretty well, sounds like it might be a big job, although a couple inches should work Smile Cool
