Could anybody please advise me on the most scenic route over the Alps from Zurich to Venice

I will be travelling in late May.

I would like to take in the Stelvio Pass if possible.

Many thanks in advance.

Best maintain some flexibility, some of the higher ones might not be open even late May.
Stelvio is not one of the best I wouldn't go out of the way for it.

Whilst I'd agree with all of this, including the Stelvio not being one of the best, you can't tell somebody to give it a miss. EVERYBODY, should ride the Stelvio at least once, in fact preferably once in each direction and the road to the NE on to Trafoi and beyond's a beaut; besides, it pretty much 'on the way' to Venice and should be open by late May.
On the other hand, I can't abide Venice and 'wouldn't go out of the way it' Smile

Good advice. My last 2 trips through Switzerland have been screwed up due to mountain road closures. If you've come up with a fairly long route taking in multiple passes and you're faced with a closure early on in the route very often there's no real alternative. Both times were mid June.

Stelvio may be on everyone's bucket list but it left me very much unimpressed. Nose to tail traffic, and stupidly tight hairpins linked by short straights on the Italian side. Swiss side is better but much better bike roads in the Alps.
