https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/dec/12/wealthy-mp-urged-to-pay-up-for-his-familys-slave-trade-past

Where will this madness end?

Wonder how long the queue is for my local National Front party membership?

Forget the details but I think The Guardian has a dodgy history re. slave trade and its founders.
They go out of the way to maximise the woke angle on every topic imaginable, and, if they can get a reaction like above ^ that's part of the plan.
It's best to make a rule to never click a Guardian link the world will be a better place.

No Guardian, no Daily Mail no BBC news or Piers Morgan and avoid Kaye Burley (easy for the foreseeable)

Life will feel a whole lot better.

What I can't understand is why? What on Earth do they think all this woke madness will lead to? How can anyone think it is a good thing? People have taken complete leave of their senses.

I would pay them and damn their eyes. BUT the entire island of Barbados has to have a criminal background check on themselves and all known ancestors, any crimes they get nothing out of the pot. If great Grandad forgot to take a library book back in 1855 you can't benefit from the cash, in fact you have to make a sizeable donation to the local library fund AND replace the book!

I glanced over it, and pretty much it's just there to engender this exact reaction IMO. Neither proposal will actually happen. Get on with your day.

So you think The Guardian etc are actually actively trying to undermine the "woke revolution"?
I'd consider that its insanity is enough for it to undermine itself except that it has gone beyond a few kids from schools, colleges and universities and seems to have leaked into institutions who ought to know better.

No, but I didn't think their reporting was particularly presenting an opinion other than actually bringing light to it. They published the opposing view that people don't get punished for the crimes of their ancestors, which is the reasonable and legal view.

Dropping the race-grifting for a moment this is just another form of inheritance tax. "We didn't fuck you over enough in life [with taxes] so now we're going after your descendants."
