I did mine at Uxbridge but apart from about an hour going round the town during training I pretty much went at it cold. Good job too as the examiner took me on a jaunt round the nearby countryside! What I'm saying is it's more important to know how to ride and behave on any road.

Mirrors, shoulder checks... the usual stuff. I almost failed for not being to the left or right of a skip-lorry i.e. possible to be seen in the driver's mirrors so umm, don't do that Wink

What Easy-X ^^^ said.

If you do want to ‘bone up’ my route went, test centre, left on St Neots Road, left onto Cambridge Road, right and around the houses there, right and back onto Cambridge Road. Right onto the B1046 past Bourne Golf club, right onto Gills hill (pull up where you can - don’t block a drive!) from Bourne following Broadway towards the A428, left and towards Cambourne. I’m a bit fuzzy after that and my maps history doesn’t help, sorry.

Things we did do that are on potential routes include...

Cambourne, lots of bendy bits and keep an eye on speed
The American Cemetery heading West to the A1303/A428 roundabout
Cambourne, Barr Hill heading South East exiting to the A14, it’s a nasty little trap designed to get you panicking about the M11, it goes to three lanes but the left is not road marked as a separate lane, all the HGVs drift across to lane 2 and you can get caught ‘undertaking’
Papworth - Pendragon Hill and Wood Lane, there’s a dodgy residential ‘island’ and a section around (I think!) Barons Way where the ‘pull over’ is again used to see if you block someone’s driveway.
There’ a new bit on the outskirts of Cambridge where you exit the road onto a 25mph but after a few hundred yards the lamppost repeaters are 20mph it’s a new area but buggered if I can remember what it’s called.

Anyhooo...stick with the basics, don’t panic, take your time, ride for yourself.

Good luck Smile

Currently going through DAS myself at the moment and will probably be sitting MOD2 in Cambridge in Feb. If you've not driven Cambridge too much I'd definitely be aware of cyclists and filter lanes/lights. I failed my first driving test in Cambridge on King's Hedges Road missing a filter light and coming to a stop. Evil or Very Mad

Dead confident the junction has been reworked as I passed in 2005, but Cambridge driving is certainly fun and games!

I grew up in Cambridge. The natives always used to moan about the cyclists. Something to do with bloody foreign students, or phrases to that effect Whistle

Ha! I worked just outside the city centre for nearly 10 years and getting away from the morning traffic and those cyclists was amazing!

As for lessons in the area, I've gone from Camrider to JJs in St Ives as their availability was brilliant. MOD1 booked in end of Jan yesterday, although with C19 I'm expecting this to move out..
