The pics shows what happens when somebody runs low on screen wash fluid, grabs a fresh bottle and pours it down the engine oil hole
Oops!

Often the caps could do with better indication of what they are for if you don't have a clue.
Those little embossed icon things aren't exactly obvious - throw in poor light this time of year,

I dunneven know what I am looking at.
Looks like someone barfed on the engine.
Is it that the screenwash has emulsified and gone all in the engine, and more to the point, how badly will it have fucked the engine up?

I beleive the original article was in the link below
and it was a lady with a mini it happened to
Yes its emulsified water/oil and the engine is probably now FUBAR
unless a full stripdown clean is done and it wasn't use for long in that state

Wynns engine flush will sort that oot ! Smile

To be fair, for folk with no clue about engines etc, under the bonnet of most cars would be a mystery given the lack of labeling .

I do agree.

Open the bonnet of my Jag and it's just a black expanse of plastic. It hasn't even got a bloody dipstick.

There again, I doubt wifie even knows how to open the bonnet of her car. Washer bottle empty? John, my windscreen washer isn't working, can you have a look? Rolling Eyes

Oil in the Screenwash.

My gaffer lifted an old 25l screenwash container that had been filled with waste oil and poured it into the screenwash hole in one of our vans. Much flushing later it seemed to be clean and it was refilled with the correct fluid. Three weeks later the engineer using the van squirted the windscreen only to find that there were pockets in the screenwash bottle that had held onto the oil. Cue a re-enactment of the scene in the Blues Brothers movie when the car threw a rod. Would have been really funny but the poor sod was crossing the old ForthRoad Bridge at the time....

The oil pressure light would have came on and hopefully the lassie stopped then.
If it was kept going then the mains, big ends, camshaft and anything else relying on oil to cool and lube will have been hammered.
Expensive repair if no bearing damage too.
Really should get a full strip, check and rebuild but we've get tore in with a pressure washer, gallons of detergent, then Diesel and then a few oil changes until our samples come back good.
