Please post your Christmas shopping requirements.
The only questions I have
Are Monkey boots fashionable at the moment for a 26 year old daughter? She's recently bought some DM's so I'm wondering if Monkey boots would be nice. They were popular at the same time as DM's in the late seventies. So why not now?
Any other present you can recommend for a 26 year old daughter? She doesn't wear makeup and dresses like a boy. I was thinking coffee machine but oh my god they are hundreds of pounds
Budget £50
Thanks,
Merry Xmas |

If you were to purchase a Bialetti stovetop machine you could get a stainless steel one for that price. I think you can use "induction" ones on other stoves too.
Advantages:
Looks superb.
Smells good in operation.
Not a great big clunky plastic breakable thing.
No ongoing costs bar a very occasional sealing washer.
Makes very good coffee out of the coffee of your choice.
Makes coffee of your desired strength.
No fiddly cleaning and accumulation of gooey bits.
Will last for a very long time indeed.
I would certainly buy one of the larger sizes, say 8-cup or a 10-cup. A "cup" in this context is a 50ml espresso cup, which is tiny. My old aluminium 9-cup makes two good sized mugs (half a litre total), which is OK. |

If she likes coffee, get her an aero-press.
I personally hate everything about coffee from the taste and smell to the shops and the type of people who frequent the shops. However I have a mate who is a chemical engineer in the food insustry whos actual job is finding ways of making tastier coffee more efficiently and he reckons that's the way to go.

Maybe he meant a rampant one? |
Hmm, then you'd need an even more secure enclosure. Probably have to bury the 'chicken wire' deep too due to their burrowing instinct. All in all a bit daft for a 26 yr old who's likely passed the furry pet stage in any case. ____________________ Now: A100, GT250A, XJ598, FZ750

Her mother had a rampant rabbit, true story.
Nobody has answered my question. Are brown Monkey boots with yellow laces fashionable? Or have I buggered up?
Surprised no one's asked for photos of my daughter. This forum is just too nice. |

We're not nice, and you know it.
We're just suffering from ennui.
i was trying to avoid having to google Monkey boots, but seeing as how both yourself AND Clanger have now mentioned them in the space of 48 hours, I am going to have to go and make an effort ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

Oh god, aren't they ugly!
The ones I googled, first colour that came up was "wine red"* with yellow laces, so I can only imagine that yellow laces wouldn't make brown ones look any worse.
*no really. You'd think they would at least have made an effort, and entitled it Merlot or Shiraz, wouldn't you! Fucking money-for-nothing creative teams these days ____________________ Not nearly as interesting in real life. |

My current gift specifications are that they must be frivolous.
Somehow I suspect I will not receive any, but if I did, I would want them to be frivolous
