As A100man asked in the what oiled your gears thread, here are some of the pictures I have taken. First lot taken this week, last few taken a couple years ago. If there is any interest in this I'll keep them coming.

I'm currently trying to find the owner of this Suzuki RF900 abandoned in the covered car park at work for at least three years so I can make an offer.

Unearthed when a plot of land was cleared for development. It says National Radiological Protection Board on the side.

I love this stuff, if only to try and work out the story behind it.

For example, the owner of that Marina II was obviously expecting to drive it again quite soon and presumably it was laid up in the Summer, judging by the towel over the steering wheel.

And looking at the surrounding terrain, how the hell did that truck even get there?

Good thread, I have a few abandoned car and van shots will find later.
2 or 3 farms round here have a field have covered with scrap cars and old machinery.
There used to be a scrap yard on an old aerodrome not far away we visited a couple of times for spare parts - they had rows of old trams parked up with trees growing through them I loved it.

Sometimes they end up being used to ferry hay out to livestock up a rough old track, we inherited some kind of 4x4 ex-army thing and used it a few times like that - drove up the moor with 20 bales on and just threw a couple off the back every day to feed sheep.
The cab was so rotten the floor was almost entirely 'absent' but it still ran reasonably well - on petrol.

I was thinking the same as BigTim, there's a significant kink in the chassis and the bell housing has a big vertical split in it, suggesting it came to an abrupt halt, probably from some speed.

Interesting there's no trace of any sort of body, maybe it was removed and recycled as some kind of animal shelter.

There's a few dead cars I know of too, I'll try and get some pictures; there's a van on someone's driveway near my work and a colleague can remember walking past it on his way to school - he's 60 next month!

The Morris Marina looks so natural there - as if it really belongs there.

Seems like only yesterday when all the common and honest folk had either these or Cortinas. There were a couple of Jags, and someone very flash had a Maserati Biturbo. Which reminds me - the last time I saw that car wasn't long ago. It was still in the hands of the old owner, I assume (as it was down the road from where it was always parked), and he was selling it to someone. Earls Court Motorfair 1987 made a big impression on me - the Mas Biturbo, and the all-new Supra, were at the top of the tree. The mood of those days was just so completely different from now. I remember seeing that car being sold outside a chip shop in 2018 (I think?) by that same guy who'd owned it all along... Motors are funny things. I can't believe how time just flies.

Anyone from the Woolwich area?

Yes, it's a boat. What do you expect from me. Wink

Of interest to music fans of the 60's & 70's.
It's the Royal Iris, Ex Liverpool ferry of 'Ferry, cross the Mersey' fame. Now rusting away and sitting on the bottom in the Thames. I went on it years ago when it was still sailing in Liverpool and I was at John Moore's doing my class two steam. I saw it down in Woolwich a couple of years ago when I was visiting friends.

Obviously google photos. I did take some but who knows where in etherland they are now.

A sad end.

My apologies, I should look what I am doing. That picture was of the previous one. Changed.

Earlier this year I went to a site, a solar farm on a farm in Witshire.

There were literally dozens of 80's Bentleys and Roll's in and around the barns.

I'm gonna make it my mission for the new year to go back and take pics.
