Hi there,

Just joined as I have just purchased my first road bike, spent my youth riding scramblers and ropy motocross bikes. However I have just got my self a Yamaha SRX 600,

Like the one here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yamaha_SRX

Its an 86 version and spent its life in California not seen it yet but looks nice from photos.

Looking forward to getting on it in the new year. I passed my CBT in the summer and failed my theory grrr just before the lock down, should of clicked more!

Cheers..

Hi and welcome. Interesting bike! Are you UK based then and if so, are you getting it imported?

I'm based in North London but thinking I may leave the bike in Bedford with my Parents, that way when we go up with the kids I can take in out for a spin on the country roads up there, got to get my licence first though.

The bike was on ebay so I just bought it because I could do my test on it and it looked cool, waiting for the guys that imported to get the V5 from DVLA, they are also quoting me to do few bits on it, master cylinder repair kit, set of new Avon Rode Riders, oil change, spark plug and a set of after market mirrors that are fitting for the age, they had to MOT it for the paperwork so that's sorted.

Any advice welcome on other bits I should get done or gear I should start looking out for, this is going to be a fair weather bike only.

Thinking I would like a Bell Bullet Helmet as it looks period but also the visibility looks good, on my CBT I was leaning the bike to crank my head round, oh and if any one knows how I can practice the video clips hazard reactions that would be good.

You can download “The Official DVSA Hazard Perception” app on the App Store, gives you a good idea of what to expect.

The hazard perception thingy on the official website is almost identical to the test as well.

If you can already drive/ride be wary of clicking too early when doing the hazard perception test. I was spotting the “hazards” too soon, I guess it’s aimed at people without a lot of experience, but I passed.

At the rate things are going COVID restrictions will have cost me a year and I’ll have to resit it before I get a test date. Rolling Eyes

Yes lets just say the guy in the test centre could not look me in the eye after the test, not a very intelligent piece of software is it.

I’m pretty sure I had a horse in one of mine, or was it a swan?
