I have some Oxford heated grips that both only seem to be getting warm and not hot like they used to.
The controller cycles all through 5 heat settings but still the grips remain only warm on the highest.

Can someone tell me how to go about testing the amps each one is drawing and how to set the multimeter?

This short video shows you how to set up the multimeter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lwZkl0yBqA . Like the example circuit shown in the video, you should set the meter to the 10A scale. Expect to see a current reading roughly two-thirds the rating of the fuse when the controller is set to "high". Current should get progressively lower as you cycle the controller to the lower heat settings.

The simplest way to measure current through the grips is to locate the fuse for the grips circuit. Remove the fuse, then bridge the fuse holder contacts with the meter leads. This will create a path through the meter that will allow it to measure the current.

You might check the meter fuse before you start. Also, it is critically important to move the red meter lead to the V jack before attempting to measure voltage. If you do not, a blown meter fuse is certain.
