Hi all just to update & end this thread I managed to get the flywheel off with this arrangement:

I ended up having to use an M10 bolt in the middle & it still required some persuasion with a club hammer & drift from behind (ooeerr!) but wanted to say thanks for all the assistance & ideas cheers. Thumbs Up

Yay! Did you cut threads in the flywheel to receive those bolts, or do something else? Is the flywheel/crank nose OK? Just wondering....

Hi no the crank is bent as a nine bob note also the genny is scrap as I caught it when I was drilling the small holes out I wasn't planning on using it again anyway. I ran a tap through the holes & fitted M7 bolts & used an M10 bolt in the centre with a big washer on the underside of the bar which is now also bent just goes to show how much force was exerted on everything.

I took one off once that was a real battle. I had a holder to stop the engine turning. The holder had a pipe through the handle and the pipe was wedged against the ground so the engine couldn't turn. The puller had a breaker bar with a four foot pipe on the end of it to turn the puller bolt. Even with that I still had to put all the force I could into it. When it finally let go the flywheel jumped off the bike like there was spring behind it and there was such a loud bang I thought the crankshaft was definitely broken but luckily it was ok.

At least it's off.

Other should learn from your "fight".

I had a problem with a cx500 back in the day, loaded puller "bolt" as much as I dared, no joy, poured on boiling water on the flywheel hub and bang, off it came with no damage.
