In 8 years, I have come a long way.
With will, we can do great things.
I had come a few years ago and my reception was not good.
But I didn't have a problem with that, I'm coming back.

Here you see, the low engine that I ended up putting together. it took a long time to assemble the crankcases with the crankshaft and then break in the cam cover for the assembly to turn.

I understood well.

No, that's not my goal.
I'm just showing what I've done.

to align the crankshaft and then tighten it.
It had to be removed from the machine several times.

The important thing here is to share, and to finish my project.
It's a lot of research because I don't have a Panhead model in front of me and we have to imagine solutions.
I build this model because we find all the parts in the catalog.
I do not belong to any motorcycle club, in fact, I like mechanics.
I like all types of motorcycles.
Nobody knows me, it's normal that people are suspicious.

Sometimes people don't put tools back in the right place.
Since I left my job, I no longer have access to the workshop.

I'm just a guy who's taken on a crazy project and is hoping to finish it.
I am living my dream despite all the difficulties I encounter.

Changing the fork bushings was a big time because Herve made me a tool.
I understand why people refuse to change them.

Sometimes you have to be equipped to do simple things, here is an example for risers.

Hervé machine the inner ring with the lathe.
What remains of the ring to the left.
Right, what remains of the bush was full, he also had to remove the bushing.

On the last photo, we see the silent blocks which will be inserted using a hydraulic press.

I show you some pictures of some amateur work, just passionate people, I imagine other person's forum is doing more important things.
My work is unpretentious, for me it's just a dream that I'm trying to achieve.

In fact it's simple, the heavier the crankshaft, the more torque there is at low speed with limited power.
In current engines, we look for a square stroke with the least weight to go up in the towers, to seek more power with a high compression ratio.
Let us not forget that the internal combustion engine has been empirical since its invention.
I am always fascinated by the research of engineers from the beginning.

Fuck off Wankie. Judging by the dirge you spout in the workshop section it's not like you are exactly a mechanical genius either.

More a case that rebuilding a crank is a specialist task that cannot be done without the correct tooling.

Unless, of course, you don't care about your bearings failing within 2K miles. To be honest you wouldn't notice the difference with a hardley because of the vibrations.

And who are you judge!
HD cranks can be built on a bench and trued up quite easily if there are no major faults. i have done machines from the 1920's through to the 1980's

Not really something that would be considered engineering these days.

Its a bit like the kits to make an electric engine that people give to their kids for crimbo.

Ignition the morons if you can dude.
Keep posting as some of us find this of interest.
You seem to have a good workshop, big lathe at any rate.

I too make "special tools" when I have to, a hammer and chisel do have there uses from time to time, but a purpose made tool can make a problem job a joy.

For those not in the know, hd used to list 100thou oversized pistons and rings, a 100thou, made to last then.
