Went racing and enjoyed being a division five person now rather than division six but no podium place for me today.

Luckily though I've got the medal for the fastest division 8 female. Dance!

Hmmm, things got lively at training last night Confused .
Sparred twice last night with higher grade/more experienced opponents.
I won my first bout quite quickly due to an error on their part, yay!.
This caused my opponent to become frustrated and try to whack me in the face with his elbow when he thought the no-one was looking Shocked .

Luckily I was able to counter his move and it was only a glancing blow.
Evil or Very Mad he was quietly and firmly warned not to try that again!

Apart from that, training was hard work but good Thumbs Up
I was puffing and blowing, but recovery times between explosive bouts of exercise are coming down a little bit.
However, this is all relative.
The younger/fitter participants train harder for longer and recover twice as quickly as I do.
But for me , I think there has been a tiny improvement and I am happy with that Thumbs Up

Went training this morning.
Did the usual warm ups and stretching exercises to get the heart pumping and a sweat on.
Then I had my arse handed to me on a plate Sad Shocked !

I had three bouts of sparring and lost two and won one.
I think I’ve cracked a rib Shocked Evil or Very Mad .
One of my opponents was a fat bastard and he landed right on top of me Shocked Shocked

Now the adrenaline has worn off, I’m in fggking agony.
Coughing is debilitating and any body movements have to be done very slowly.

Fugk this nonsense, it’s supposed to be fun, not this painful??

Fitness ebbing and flowing a bit last couple years.

Have a 10 mile running race tomorrow. I know I can finish, as I ran 12 miles last week. Still, not looking forward to it a whole bunch.

This will be the first time since I cracked my ribs (late November).

It’s not going to be easy, but I still have to try Confused

EDIT: well that didn’t go to badly Smile . No broken bits , just a good sweat on .
We all eased into the session/ they were kind to me Thumbs Up

Did a couple of six hour bicycle rides over Christmas which were fun apart from one of them it was raining the entire way and the other one was into a headwind the entire way. Laughing

Everything kayaking related is in winter training mode at the moment.

Monday evenings are running doing hill sprints.

Tuesday evenings are circuit training.

Wednesday evenings are paddling.

Need to get back into the habit of going cycling on Thursdays.

Fridays are a day off.

Saturdays are paddling with the main group and then padding with the junior group.

If I can be bothered then I should start going out on Sundays as well.

Sleeping

The race series we do doesn't start until the middle of May and the club monthly 5km time trial isn't happening until the first week in April.

But today I'm off to support the club junior crews racing and I've got to decide which of my coaching sticks to take. Bounce!

Tuesday morning bonus kayaking session as it's half term.

Tuesday morning bonus cold swim as we played chicken which ended badly as none of slowed down. Laughing

So so cold though, if that missing person Nicola Bulley had fallen into the river whilst wearing heavy clothes then I can definitely see how she could have easily drowned in that situation. The shock of submersion in cold water really does take your breath away, you can't talk to the people in other boats to say that "yeah I'm okay but let me get my breath back before expecting me to talk".

Come on people, have you all died of laziness or something?

Winter training is no more, went for a nice little cycle ride this afternoon with 2,354 feet of elevation gained. Dance!

Has No.2 noblet signed up? He's bitching about long days at college at the moment.

I'd done 8 hours working in a factory sticking giblets up chickens arse at his age...

Started doing a 1 hour squash session per week in addition to the two 1 hour badminton sessions.

Will either be fitter or deader.
Time will tell

Don't think he's signed up.

There are going to be training sessions on Mondays that he should be doing so he needs to sort out his time management. Laughing

Another mug for a prize after the race on Sunday, that'll do. Dance!

It's going to be a few weeks until your noblet joins and Monday was relatively gentle however the intensity and effort is going to be increasing every single week. Laughing 6.28 miles in an hour and a quarter.

Yesterday was a less gentle training session of 9.33 miles in an hour and thirty two minutes. Sick

A rowing machine is a full body work out unlike a bike which is largely legs.

Unless it's one of those wierd things that do a scissor action at the same time...
