My old RST Adventures are really on there last legs. They stopped being water proof a year ago. The leather is shot and some of the armour is pealign away...

I need new boots. Can anyone recommend any, that are affordable... I guess about the same price as the RST adventures... around 100 quid......... Or is that too cheap now?

Ill be after something that has all the usual protections and what not.

I would have suggested RST Adventure II's based on me having purchased them before winter to give me a little bit more warmth but at the same time not to venture too far away from what I was used to. It looks, however, like they've been discontinued by SBS (and are reduced and selling elsewhere) by the RST Raid boot (that I've never looked at).

So from me you may be able to get a pair of II's cheap, or await further comments.

All of my riding is on the road, and so I'll switch back to the Trachtech Evo's as soon as it warms up.

The above link looks to be a good price for the Adventure II's, and given that (for my postcode at least) that price includes shipping & tax I'd say it's a bargain (if they've got your size, that is). If you're after a boot yesterday I'd say that's a no brainer given visiting in person / shopping around is going to be limited for a while longer, and comes in under budget.

The buckles aren't all that heavy duty in terms of quality, and I've noticed on one or two occasions at least one of them not clipped in properly post ride (with no feeling of looseness), but that could just be me faffing around always in a rush to get to, or return from, work. A velcro top and two buckles is the entire strap in process with no zip.

However I would say that post winter and sort of more into the summer I'd expect -- if I were you and the Adventure II's were the only useable boot I owned -- to spend between £100-140 on a pair of full sized boots that are vented and non-wp to get through summer. It's not something you need to stress about and a problem to solve now trying to find something that will work both now and then, but the Adventure II's are hefty. Even the lighter Trachtech Evo's (WP) are too much on some warm days.

Having both a non-wp and wp boot (I'd ignore ankle boots: never got on with them) further down the line will definitely be advantageous. Trachech Evo non-wp may work for that purpose, but my favourite is whipping out a pair of Alpinestar SMX somethings for a change as their comfy.

HTH.

I use RST Paragon 2 most of the time; comfy, easy to put on (zip and gusset, closed with a massive velcro flap) and seem to be pretty waterproof too. Good feel with them as well. Mine are 2.5 years old and are holding up pretty well.

£120 from J&S.

The discount is really good and tempting... BTW i should have said my old boots are the Adventure II... So while sure they would last a few years, I cant help but think id want something different. I also cant really buy it till the beginning of feb so probably too late for that sale. Any more recommendations?

The Paragon was mentioned... but I also like the RST Raid... Even in that old brown look... But its a bit more pricey

I had a TCX S-Speed for more or less 3 years. They're squeaky and not very affordable, but it kept my feet warm, dry and comfortable during winter. I was lucky finding a pair for £120 at the time and it was a huge difference from the sneakers I used to wear
