The democrats aren't doing too well in elections at the moment but the thing that caght my eye was halfway down the linked article.

Amid surging crime, Minneapolis voters rejected a proposal to replace the city's police department with a new Department of Public Safety, more than a year after the murder of George Floyd by an officer

If the Biden admin actually attempt to push through a lot of their climate rhetoric it will be the biggest vote for republicans ever next time.
Hopefully the mysterious machines adding votes and deceased voter issues will be sorted before then too.

I thought money printing was a very simple mechanism to create inflation by the simple principle that the more there is of something the less value it has.

Well, I did a bit of research and indeed the gold standard as a "standard" is a bit of a red herring as it depends on the value of that gold, which a government holding enough of the stuff can manipulate. This essentially is another way of printing money with potentially the same inflationary result.
