im still waiting for covid 1 to take out anyone i know, or anyone who anyone i know, knows.

if it wasnt for the constant news scaremongering i wouldnt even know it existed. Thinking

If a company shorts >5% of the available shares, they have to disclose it.

Gamestop had been shorted over 120%, which caught the eyes of WSB, who quickly realised anyone holding stock is guaranteed profits when the shares need to be repaid, as long as they bought enough of them between them and held on for dear life.

Then it got some wider attention and everyone and their dog wanted to buy, making the price jump to around $500. It's settled now, but anyone who has an old short still running is still looking at huge losses.

Same, but it still feels pretty real to me.

The constant news scaremongering goes over my head, I have to ignore it for the sake of my sanity.
I have to ask people "what is it we're not allowed to do now?"

Closest I can get is the aunty of a really good mate (who also happens to be a BCF member) - but that's close enough for me.

I still haven't caught up with the Gamethingythingy so I can't really have an opinion, but I can see what they tried to do. It felt a bit juvenile ... but I suppose things that change the world we know might not necessarily happen the way we are expecting them to happen.
