I've read online that when fitting LED indicators you need to also fit resistors? Is this the case when fitting an LED right lamp as well? Cheers in advance.

No. For the indicators it's just to correct the flash rate.

But with something as safety-critical as a stop/tail lamp please make sure the LEDs are bright enough to see in all directions. I have followed some bikes with LED 'upgrades' which are nice and bright when directly behind them but at any angle to the side they look very dim (where a normal filament bulb would still be visible).

This; even some OEM LED tail light units are a bit lacking in side visibility. They could create units which combine a COB ring/outer area for wide-angle visibility (doesn't need to apply over long distances) with a more directional LED/LEDs for the rearward facing light.

If the rear light also illuminates the registration plate (via a clear window incorporated into the red tail light lens/diffuser) then it could be a fail if the PoPo or an MOT tester decides to do that.

Apart from that just ensure its bright enough to show but not so bright that it looks looks you are braking.

Stop-Tail LED bulbs use a bunch of LEDs. For the tail light only a few LEDs illuminate and for braking all the LEDs illuminate which puts more light out.
They are very directional by limitations of design/concept. Some have fill-in LEDs to provide some side lighting too.
