Ive removed my bikes battery to charge it up as I wasn't riding it regularly enough to keep the charge up. The charge drops as I have a GPS locator fitted. Given the current weather I'm to going to be taking the bike out for its weekly battery charge ride so there's no point putting the battery back in the bike. How long is it ok to leave a bike for without a battery?

I suppose there is a chance of some electronic settings eventually being forgotten especially if a capacitor is involved Thinking
Unlikely though, what model?

I always take the battery out over winter and keep it on a charger indoors. Even with an alarm I have zero issues.

It's a Yamaha XJ6. I did wonder if the ecu might have a keeper battery that could lose charge. The trip counter and clock get reset when the battery is out for sure.

It'll be fine, ECU's don't need a 'keep alive' supply

It would be no credit to Yamaha if my bike read zero miles. Although in excellent condition for a 23k miles machine ridden in all weather.

The ECU uses "non volatile memory" for the fuel injection map, ignition system parameters, fault codes, etc. It's like writing to a thumb drive. Years later, the operating instructions are still in there.
