Evolution Mitre Saw (White Sparking in Motor Casing)

Hi All,

I have an evolution Mitre Saw which I've been using for about 4 years (low use) which had been working really well until recently.

Recently the blade started to act intermittently and sometime seem to stick. After reading some forums it suggested that a build up of sawdust could be the issue.

So today I removed the blade and was really chuffed to remove a load of crud from underneath the blade. Really happy - I put it all together and gave it a go and it worked like brand new! Great news!

However, the second pull I have it started playing up again but this time something in the motor casing didn't sound right.

- I looked in the casing as I was pulling the button and it's noisy and white sparks are visible (were they before?)
- After a while it simply stopped working altogether.

Have I likely pushed dust further into the machine?

Worn motor brushes?
If you can get inside they can sometimes be 'encouraged' to get closer to the windings, in my experience about half the time this ends in disaster and slinging in the bin - but worth a shot if you would do that anyway otherwise.

I think you are right with the brushes. I took them out and one of them looked burnt (darker than the other). I put them back and gave it a pull - the white sparks were coming from the side where the burnt looking brush was.

Will get on and order some today.
