At least they are willing to try something a bit off from their usual 'cruiser-fag' mentality.

Don't you drive a plastic yank toy with a slushbox?

I think you are missing the point... but I don't blame you. It must be the heat.

Anything they do that is not a cruiser is probably good. Every time they have some sort of economic shock they go back to the tried and tested route of selling technologically inferior 1950s looking cruisers to increasingly older bearded men. If they actually made some products that had technical innovation and style, they might have a future.

Oh wait... the Live Wire and the Panamerica! It has to be a good move on their part. And as for MCN? Everything they write in the headlines is sensationalist. That's what news is about! I don't think they've got better or worse over the years. Remember the Norton Nemesis for example?

MCN .. i stopped buyin this more than 20 years ago .. because of the credibility they gave to stories from a "trusted source" .. which invariably turned out to be bollox.. would seem nothing has changed

... incidently the story in question was reference to stoppin motorcycles from usin Devils bridge in Yorkshire and reservin it for the quieter user.. i actually wrote to the councillor in question .. and did indeed receive a reply..which dismantled MCN`s story ... I've never trusted anythin that recycled bog roll prints since ... never again..

Standard for 'adventure' bikes. I've been saying it for years. Why not buy a sports tourer though? That's the issue, Adventure bikes have supplanted the sports and sports tourer as the most common type of big bike ridden in the UK.

If you want to go off road you want the lowest possible weight. That's why I quite like the Tenere 700. Ok it's not *light* But it's more the sort of thing you could actually 'adventure' on IMO.

Adventure bikes are just like SUVs in the car world. They exist because people like the idea they can go anywhere but in reality they just ride down their street and occasionally to a biker cafe. It's a shame people can't be honest with themselves and actually buy a bike that is appropriate for the job.

Excuse the political angle, but euro 5 regs, and the b word haven’t helped sales of the Sportster which was a major cash cow for the majorly overpriced firm.
I do think it is a shame, as an old git, because some of the bigger bikes do work. 883’s are a bit pointless after the ‘whoo Harley!’ thing, however.

A fair point, but you won’t hear a FireBlade owner moaning about how many people ( female or otherwise ) bought a C90.
Cash is king, I believe.

BTW Nobby and Ste have their ‘idiosyncrasies’, but they are bcf.

Before you go, Britski ...

Tell us a little bit about what you were, before you became an ex pat.
I'm genuinely interested.

i'm intrigued enough that i'll give one a try when the R1200 finally croaks.

Sure, it's ugly but i'm a a BMW rider so i'm used to it.

Sure it's heavy but see above.

Main concern for me would be H-D going under while it's still in warranty.

If you move to America do they make you say things like 'stick shift' and 'fender before you can stay?

We do need to look at the figures though, hardley have finally broken 100bhp, they'll be turning corners quickly next!
