You really don't understand statistics do you.
The rates per 100k vaccinated a d unvacinated aren't affected by vaccination rates.

The total number of people in each group does get affected.

We can argue over interpretation of figures till we're blue in the face but the fact still remains that the government (of the UK at least) has no clue how to handle any of this... after over two fricking years Shocked

"Positive test results are rising!" okay, but no one's explained in clear terms why that's actually a problem. "More ppl will die!" the figures don't reflect that. "The NHS will be overwhelmed!" the figures don't reflect that.

Let's just assume it is a bad thing regardless of the consequences, what's the solution? "Mask mandates!" has that worked in the past? The figures don't seem to suggest that. As I've always said: what's the point in mandating ornamental masks? "Vaccine passports!" the vaccine doesn't confer immunity to Covid nor does it prevent retransmission. "More testing!" well that just shows you have a problem, it's not a solution.

And of course all of this is a pointless exercise when you have a porous international border Rolling Eyes

I'll say again rates per 100k vaccinated people is the number of people who tested positive divided then number of people vaccinated and the same for unvaccinated.

It makes no difference how many people have been vaccinated.

I think you should just admit you don't understand how numbers work.

It's my stock in trade because I do accountancy for a living.

All I do all day is numbers.

The government should mandate nothing at this stage. The vaccine is available. Have it if you want it. Most have. Wear a mask if you want to. If you don't, take your chances, it's your choice. It isn't about protecting others anymore.

The government should spend its time working out how to fix the very broken NHS (and not wasting taxpayer's money on diversity officers), and all the other problems we currently have.

But the under 18s bu k the trend significantly.

You make no attempt to explain this apart from showing you don't understand statistics.

Incidentally, the 18-29 group are doing the same now.

I didn't deny that. I just hypothesised that it's because most age-group aren't being tested as thoroughly so most asymptomatic people don't get picked up and that possibly vaccination alters the proportion or asymptomatic to minor symptoms.

Your response proved.that you are on the left hand side of the bell curve showing intelligence/education v vaccination rate.

No I said its not unreasonable to consider whether a preprogrammed immune system is more likely to cause minor symptoms rather than result in no symptoms and the actual rate infected for vaccinated is actually lower because of a vast unidentified reservoir of unvaccinated asymptomatic people.

It fits the availble facts but would need to be tested.

Your hypothesis relies on a flawed understanding of basic primary school maths.

More denial.

According to the ONS, there is a widening and growing trend of vaccinated people turning up positive Covid infection cases, so much so that in all age groups now, from 40-80, the rate of infection is at least twice that amongst the two pricks and counting than the unvaccinated.

Yes, or no? A simple answer will do.

Then ask yourself WFT is going on for this trend to be increasing as time and vaccination rates keep growing.

What part of 'maybe vaccination makes it more likely that you would have minor syptoms rather than asymptomatic' don't you get?

On one hand you are arguing that the <18 are less vaccinated so have higher rates, but then complain that vaccination causes higher rates.

Please explain how you ended up with these two contradictory views on the same set of data.

And once again we come back to rates.

So, If you have 1000 vaccinated, 4 of them are be infected.
If you have 100,000 vaccinated , 4,000 are infected.
If you have 10,000,000 vaccinated, 400,000 are infected.

(Rate chosen at random)

All three of those are the same rate per head vaccinated. The number vaccinated does not change the rate.

20,000 people is statistically significant btw.

Let's take a break for a little levity:

Covid in Scotland: Hundreds refused entry in vaccine passport 'chaos'

The first weekend of enforcement of Scotland's vaccine passport scheme was an "unmitigated disaster", according to a body representing night-time venues.

I'm sure Hitler did a much better job of things over half a century ago. Can't knock the simplicity of special badges for the unvaccinated Laughing

I note that 3 times as many vaccinated people in the 18-29 group were, in total, positive but the overall rate points out that there are more of them vaccinated than unvaccinated because the per 100k rate is lower in the vaccinated.

Well either Covid only comes out late at night or they're choosing a section of the hospitality least likely to be missed. Once everyone switches to pubs etc. they'll hail the whole thing a success an expand onto other areas of entertainment: pubs, restaurants, cinemas...

The road to hell is paved with app pretentions.
