And this is a clear demonstration of your total and utter lack of understanding of how vaccines work to control disease in the population.

How long have you been having flu vaccines for?

Whenever I can get them and genuinely I've had them every year since I was 30. You've also got to bear in mind that flu is not as prevalent as Covid, nor is it as virulent - but you know... that's by the by isn't it?

Who thinks that it would be right to lock down just the unvaccinated if cases rise here in the UK? Explain why? Come on, help me to get my head around this Laughing

I presume you have been advised to have the flu vaccines because you have an underlying condition that leaves you particularly vulnerable to it? If not, why would you?

Unvaccinated are 1) more likely to get infected and 2)more likely to spread it and 3) more likely to end up in hospital overwhelming the NHS.

Because I don't want to infect people with Flu? It's a vaccine and the disease is present where I'm present. Why wouldn't I take it? Same with any vaccine really.

1) I put it to you that you don't care about the unvaccinated, but care more about winning your argument. If you care about me, don't lock me down. If I feel at risk, I'll get vaccinated. It is not for you to decide to protect me.
2) If you are vaccinated, why worry?
3) Whilst before vaccines that may have been the case, now it is highly unlikely that the vaccinated will be hospitalised by Covid. Before Covid, the NHS was overwhelmed every winter anyway. This possibility, or likelihood, isn't about Covid now.

Well, do you? Laughing
What do you say to those who don't get flu vaccinations regularly? Do you think the government should pressure them to do so? What kind of pressure?

^^^It's more to do with overwhelming the already stretched health service.

Flu jab? I have them purely for selfish reasons...even though their efficacy isn't brilliant.

Had it and wouldn't wish it upon anyone else. Took months for me to return to fighting fit.

My guess is work don't care if I turn-in full of any type of lergy but may act if that lergy knocks out most of the workforce.

'You look rough mate'

Yes, been up most of the night puking and crapping and sweats like etc etc

'Well done you for giving us the opportunity to share your illness' Laughing

Wouldn't mind but we get full sick pay and it only matters to H.R if you're ill on a Monday or a Friday or have 5 consecutive days off.

Me?
I don't go in if I'm ill. Touch wood, not been off for 4 years.

Lost 2 old workmates to covid.
Maybe it's a hoax until you get it. Laughing

Its an appalling statistic that 40% of sick leave is taken on a Monday or Friday

Straw man I'm afraid. I have never said it was a hoax. But if you've been vaccinated, the argument goes you won't get seriously ill from it.

I'm very jealous of all you people for who it's all clear cut. I'm not that smart and many of the issues arising raise a lot of questions for me.

What do you think about further lockdowns at this stage of the game Pat? What about locking down just us unvaccinated, whether we take our own precautions or not?

Sorry if you thought all of that was directed at you...it wasn't.

Most things are a bit of a gamble are they not.

This occasion I chose to gamble on a vaccine that may/maynot improve my 4g signal.

Lockdowns aren't required if people used their noggins a bit more.
I'm keeping a low profile...as in not going to gigs or the flicks.
Meeting up with friends but no tongues just yet.

Drastic measures like the previous lockdowns were put in place because too many people were falling ill. I'm vaxxed but as you said it doesn't mean I won't suffer.
The unvaxxed should do as they please but hopefully bear in mind that the lergy is about so maybe be sensible.

'Coughs and sneezes spread diseases so use your handkerchief' ...that's what I learned in Primary school.

If wearing a mask when you're nipping into the shop helps a wee bit then no bother...wash yer mitts and keep your balls fresh. Thumbs Up

Flu has not triggered a global pandemic in my lifetime. Flu has not ever caused us to go into lockdown. Flu has never paralysed the UK and global economy. I still take the vaccine. Go figure.

Well known factr that Wednesday is the best day to throw a sickie. Nobody suspects anything and it splits the week nicely.

It is obviously a thing and hasn't been denied, but why risk dying from catching it when you can take a vaccine and minimise the chance?

FFS Boris's original plan was herd immunity via infection....

To be fair the idiot did have the decency to catch it himself. Maybe.

Do you care about people who cant get NHS services for other health conditions because the NHS is backed up with the unvaccinated?

Those of us that understand maths would know that Monday and Friday make-up 40% of the working week so woud make up 40% of the sick leave....

Sorry, I didn't mean "me" literally. It doesn't matter what happens to me as far as I'm concerned. But I do worry about what lockdowns have done to others who are more deserving, and what they have done to society in general.
But maybe it is a price that has to be paid. Lockdowns don't really affect me much, so I probably shouldn't have a say in the matter. I just mull these things over, and much of what I post is just thinking aloud to see how others think.
Sigh. I don't mind personally being a low priority for the NHS. Had my fair share, and still don't look after myself properly - still a smoker ffs! Rolling Eyes Which is partly why I'm still not registered with a GP. You shouldn't pay too much attention to what I care about.

Austria going for compulsory vaccines. Good on them. I would say the same here but I do like the fact Darwin can get involved.
