Anyone know when it went from carb to EFI? I'm struggling to get any thorough tech specs on it. Anyone ever had any experience with this bike or the brand in general? They seem quite rare.

Only interested because I saw one for sale locally and discovered it actually meets the requirements for the DAS test (at least 595cc, at least 50kW and at least 175kg) while still having a VERY low seat height and relatively lightweight.

The Mrs currently has a Monster 696 (lowered by 30mm) waiting and ready to go when she does her DAS in May but she still struggles with the seat height even though it's the lowest bike I could find (other than the Hyosung) that meets the requirements for the test. According to the specs the Hyosung is way lower even than the already very low Monster 696 although the Hyosung is a fair bit heavier, but I'm thinking the weight shouldn't be a problem so long as she can get both feet flat on the floor (better that than a bike half the weight she's on tiptoe with).

I tell a lie there are actually plenty of other bikes lower than the 696 (not JUST the Hyosung) but they're all cruisers, and because cruisers always have relatively low power output they're all either not powerful enough to meet the requirement or they're like 1800 lumps over 300kg. The Hyosung is the only cruiser I can find that meets the power requirements but without being ridiculously heavy (probably because it doesn't have a proper cruiser engine it's actually an SV650 copy so probably very different characteristics to your usual cruiser but the import thang being it ticks the right boxes for use on the test).

Not sure though, although the seat height is a lot lower than the 696, whether the riding position with outstretched legs would be detrimental to her confidence on the test. Correct me if I'm wrong but outstretched legs usually seems a bit alien to learner riders??? I know the first time I rode a cruiser style bike it felt very weird having my legs stretched out, I kept feeling like I wanted to pull them back and put my feet on the ground at slow speeds and manoeuvring.

So yeah, interested in the bike if we can find one to use instead of the 696+ but not sure if, seat height aside, the style of bike is less ideal for doing the test on than a naked.

Thoughts???

Korean. Pretty well built. If I was in the market, I'd not hesitate to buy a GT or GTR (same SV based motor's as the GV), not the GV, but only because I'm not into cruisers personally.

I seem to remember that they switched from an almost straight copy of the motor on carbs, to a more unique derived design with EFI, but couldn't tell you when.

the switch occurred around 2008 (07 are still carbed, 08 being EFI) due to Euro 3 restrictions
or at least on GV 250 that I had (08 plate but carbed 07 model)

it was okayish but quick to rust...
