Any 3d printer owners on here?
Its a great technology that's rapidly getting more and more affordable.
I've been loving the FDM side of it for just over a year now, awesome for making brackets and clips, phone mounts etc.

also Just got a resin machine in January for model making:

Yes, only a Prusa i3.

I'm currently working on a way of mounting a "Daymaker" knock-off in a Yamaha adjustable headlamp cradle.

Had one for about 5 years. Started out as a chinese acrylic frame Mk2 clone but just about everything but the motors has been replaced now Laughing

Really handy for making brackets and stuff. I've made a few to hold my new speedometer on and i'm going to make another for my headlight when I can be bothered.

Yeah I've got an Ender 5 Plus these days. Really impressed with it actually, very large build area for a decent price. Would buy again!

I'm sure there's a 3D printing thread already, but yes I have been printing for some years now.

Virtually everything I print now is on my Prusa MK2 or Ender 3.

Both great little printers for quality and miles apart in price.

How do you get on with the ender 3, I've been considering one of these.

The YouTuber Just Vlad seems to like it, as per his review.

It's incredible in all fairness. A very fast and simple setup.
I bought the pro version and put on a removable springsteel powdercoated pei buildplate, but the supplied removable buildplate is more than adequate.

There are no real upgrades needed to get great prints, it just churns out whatever I print on it. I haven't done any tuning at all of the stock settings. The only thing other than the buildplate is the bed springs. The supplied ones are ok, but I swapped them for stiffer versions, so the bed stays where it is set. I haven't had to change it for months and it still prints flat all over the bed.

I would always advise people go for an Original Prusa MK3 if you can justify the cost, but if I was to buy another, it would be an Ender 3 Pro all day long.

In short, they are pretty much the bar for cheap 3D printers.

Bit the bullet and purchased myself an Ender 3 Pro after a good amount of watching YouTube reviews and general 3D Printing videos.

It's a fantastic little machine that didn't take long to set up and calibrate. Once I'd found a very good tutorial on bed levelling I was printing amazing little prints.

Here are a few of the ones I have done so far:

I've already upgraded the Extruder mechanism for a metal version and I plan to upgrade the bed to a better surface in the future.

Thinking of getting a 3D printer to make little jigging pieces and adapters for work holding in my workshop to save me the hassle of bodging things together from timber or steel.

Nothing will be bigger than maybe a maximum of 100 mm x 100 mm x 100 mm.

What should I be looking for when browsing for one or what is the best I can get for around the £500 - £750 price range?

I'm new to all this, but I can model things in AutoDesk software (AutoCAD 3D, REVIT and Maya), I need to learn what the next steps are after that Embarassed

EDIT:

I bought a SOL 3D Scanner:

https://scandimension.com/products/sol-3d-scanner-included-tent-3d-scanner-usb-cables-cover-and-scan-target

But it just doesn't have the resolution to scan the very small and intricately detailed things (remote control engine parts, springs and fasteners), so any idea what forums there are where someone might be interested in it? Confused

Crying or Very sad I haven't bought the 3D printer yet, the only thing I have is a 3D scanner. Still taking suggestions on the right type of printer I need though!

I dont know much about printers in that price range but I was just watching this video on the voron 2.4 and it looks awesome and faster than other printers apparently.

I've got an upper limit of £750.00 for a cash purchase, after that it would be credit and I'd like to avoid that if possible.

the Voron 2.4 isn't a commercial product, it's an open source project. AFAIK you can't buy them built and probably wont be able to for some time.

As good as it is, it's not really a decent printer for anything precise as its skillset is speed. A newcomer to printing would be overwhelmed buying one.
