Ok they flogged all manner of small cheap crap bikes n scoots
but the auction includes all sort of workshop stuff if anyone is local/interested

Was tempted by a helluva lot there, but it's collection only and the final price gets 22% buyers premium plus 20% vat.

That makes some stuff too dear even at the start bid.

I just noticed that and it looks very greedy indeed
They get a sellers commision and buyers premium
then maybe add VAT to add insult to injury !

I've been put off with a lot of these liquidation auctions. Most seem to start right at the top end of what is viable when you add on premiums and VAT.

I wonder how much doesn't sell and people 'in the know' get offered it at knock down prices or is that too cynical?

Not sure how the VAT works as these are all second-hand goods? I suppose it runs along the lines of "the original purchaser claimed back the VAT so now it needs to go back on" but obviously a business buying stuff could claim it back again.

For a consumer you may as well look at the prices and add 50% Sad

Not sure of the VAT situation either and reckon it would be safer to assume that nigh on 50% markup too before committing to buy

Another small dealer bites the dust. Its a real shame. Soon all the that will be left are the big brands.

Sadly it's the same all over. Big has the power to kill the small businesses. When I ran a tool shop back in the late 80's I used to sell Bosch Professional (blue) power tools. They wanted me to stock the DIY (green) and the discounts they were willing to give me meant I would have been buying them off Bosch for more money than I could buy them retail in the big retail DIY shops.

OK, they were using them as lost leaders to get people in but you can't compete with that sort of buying power, It has to be the same in the motorcycle business.

Hmm buy widget X for 100 hammer price = 122 with buyers premium =
146.4 inc VAT.

Yes that's a lot - I think even our local robbin bar stewards charge 'only' 15% buyers, and I can even remember the day when it was nothing - only the seller paid..

Can see a few decent-ish deals in there, there's a pair of spoked tubeless 17in BMM wheels that would suit a GS road conversion well, currently at 190 (280 after all the fees and probably 320 after petrol to collect) which is reasonable. Tempted by the set of BMW GS panniers too but after fees I think they're over what ebay sells for.

Shame there's no R1200R parts as I need a new headlight.
