Hi,
I salvaged a 1980 Honda CB250RS which had most items robbed from it, including the loom. I am rebuilding this bike as a sprint project but I have an issue with identifying the uses of some of the electrical wires on the right hand side of the crankcase.
2 wires protrude from the crankcase just in front of the kickstart lever. One is Blue and the other is Green.
The Haynes wiring diagram does not show these colours and I am a little confused as to what they would’ve connected to on the original bike?
My bike does not have a CB250RS loom therefore I have no reference point. Is there any kind CB250RS owner out there who could trace the connections for these 2 wires please?

Pale green (often with a red tracer) is usually a neutral switch on Hondas.

The only thing on the kickstart side is the ignition pickup, which routes into the CDI.

Many thanks guys. CDI pick up would make sense but it was fitted with 2 wire connector - I think that CDI has a 6 pin connector unless it goes through something else first?
According to Haynes, solid green wires are part of negative (earth) circuit. Not sure what solid blue is for on the ignition circuit?

Definitely not the neutral switch.

Cheers

I had a CB250RS years ago and stuck an XL500 lump in it
for a larf.
Just dug out the WD and see it aint the neutral switch as that's a
single wire, but something easily deduced in 2 mins with a meter

The CDI has 6 wires going into it, from 2 plugs. One has 2 pins, the other has 4.

Assuming these wires are coming out of the top of the right hand side crankcase, and the kickstart lever is pointing near them when its folder in, they are the pickup wires.

On the other side of the bike you have the alternator wires - 3 yellow- and the clutch switch wire.

I know that CB250RS inside out. Instead of trying to cobble it together, I recommend getting the right wiring loom so you get all 6 wires into the CDI correct.

Many thanks Robby,
That has helped me a lot and clears things up significantly.
The Haynes colours are different for the pick up but what you have said actually makes sense.
Cheers
