Since when has an R1 not been able to outrun a Saab 9-5?
Except under the control a cretinous brainless swine.

I had an estate 9-5, it left the factory with 150 horses but by the time I'd finished with it, it was almost 300bhp and 420Nm. 0 to 30 was slow due to lack of grip but 30 to 90 was impressive for a big car. If the road was long enough apparently 168mph was the top speed.
The 9-5 Aero was only slightly less powerful, but had better brakes, tyres and suspension. As you can see, even an average driver has no trouble braking deep into the corners and can get on the gas hard and early without falling off.
Throw some unknown bends into the equation, and unless you're Rossi you'll struggle to increase the distance.
But the bike was a speck in the distance on the longest straight, rider should have picked an easier road for his skill level, or tried advanced level filtering and off-roading. ____________________

He was taking it easy as he didn't want to get in any trouble with the police.
Nice to see how far an R1 can go without any coolant in the engine. ____________________ Disclaimer: The comments above may be predicted text and not necessarily the opinion of MCN. |

A decently set up car with a driver who knows how to go it should outcorner a sportsbike all day long. The bike should outaccelerate the car.
If the SAAB has been poked (and the SAAB 95 is eminently poke-able) the top speeds may not be dissimilar. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |
