My bikes battery is next to toast, it doesn't really hold a charge if left for a few days so new bat time.

Wheres the best place to get one? should i just order online or wait until Hellfords opens up and pick on up there? I don't want all the hassle of filling a fresh battery up.

cheers

Tayna online. Brilliant service and decent pricing.

AGM batteries are sealed and come ready to rock.

Advise you to avoid going cheap on your battery. A good quality battery should last five years minimum. I have had good luck with Yuasa.

I'd advise Motobatt, but the one I have that came with the Fazer is the work of the devil and I've managed to cause it to spark twice when disconnecting the terminals (and yes I remove ground first then positive) and it scares the shit out of me.

Firs time was the allen key touched frame by accident, and second was attempting to tighten the battery terminal off the bike.

So yeah Motobatt's are great but the way the gold terminal is installed on the battery via a small allen key head bolt weirdly sort of accessible but not quite because there's a corner piece of terminal above that gets in the way of straight down access so you have to use the ball end of a hex key annoys me.

~

In terms of where to order from I'd go with the usual Wemoto or SBS.

Yuasa all day long. Never let me down. I have just bought a JMT Lithium for my CBR600 and it seems ok. Much smaller and lighter. But if we are talking acid or gel then you get what you pay for.

+1 for Yuasa.

Pay a little more and the job is a good 'un for longer than any other brand. Fit and forget (I top-up charge mine before fitment but if you're going out for a run there's probably no need to).

I also use Tayna. You'll get a choice of upwards of half a dozen of varying price points for any particular bike. Some pretty good deals on occasion too.

You can also search by things like dimensions and capacity which is handy if you are doing something custom and want a battery to fit in a certain size hole.

AGM or gel will arrive pre-filled.

I have to agree with arry.

I use Tayna for all my battery supplies. Bike, boat, car, leisure. Their service is superb.

Thanks folks, I'm going to get a Yausa from Tayna. My xj6 Yuasa has lasted 7 years so it will be £60 well spent.

Why did you choose lithium? I watched a Forte Nine vid on batteries, it didn't seem apart from size and weight that lithium was really worth it.

I'd have said the main benefit was a very low rate of self-discharge. Perfect for intermittantly used bikes.

Thanks for the comment on the Fortnine video. Just checked it out. Pretty much conformed to my experience with Shorai.

It's easy enough to buy a battery but there's lots to choose from and not all are created equally. Razz

How much money can I spare? How much is a battery within that price range? Bingo, that's the one. But not the shite It needs to make a thread about it all of it's own.

Thumbs Up
Rather than going for OE I chose another lead acid with the same dimensions (a bit taller actually but it still fit) but a larger capacity and CCA. Starting was noticeably better. Currently a Yuasa but I’ve been happy with Tayna, Bosch and others too.

I've heard very good things about Enduroline, which is Tanya's 'own-brand' I think. I bought one myself about a year ago with no regrets; so far it's been absolutely fine, and way cheaper than the usual suspects
