Following on from the Hendrix thread, I thought it'd be interesting to see what others have found to be mind-blowing, definitive or just great performances* by guitarists that they have found on YouTube. Rock, blues, jazz, metal, country (though it pains me to say it Laughing ), acoustic or electric, any genre you like, even bass guitar if something has particularly knocked your socks off.

I'll start entirely predictably, since every time I watch it I'm blown away - SRV, Texas Flood:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KC5H9P4F5Uk

Edit:

Couple of rules for the thread:

1. Guitar performances. With band, where other instruments are showcased is fine, but it's supposed to be guitar performances that you love or blew you away.

2. Videos of the artists playing. Can be at a gig or in the studio or wherever, but let's see the artist perform.

Edit: *or just something you particularly liked.

Not totally my thing, but quite enjoyed them Thumbs Up
Can we stick to vids of live performances though folks, or we'll be too much in "what are you currently listening to" territory, which wasn't the idea really.
Comments on what particularly took you when you first saw the performances you post would be interesting too.

A favourite acoustic piece of mine, Peppino d'Agostino, "Grand Canyon":

There was a faster version of him playing on stage, but can't find it now.

Sir, as requested.

A lot of the epic sessions are accompanied by shite recording conditions.

It why I prefer studio.

Power is Useless without Control.

p.s. I was never aware that Neil Young kept pigeons.

If we're mentioning bass guitarists then Norman Watt-Roy has to get a mention:

As does Chris Wolstenholme:

And of course, John Entwistle:

Yeah, but it's just what this thread is about. "Found on the net". So we'll live with some ropey recordings as long as there's something in it that you're impressed by.
Occasionally, an artist really hits it in a live performance though, and sometimes someone is there to capture it on vid, so these days, we get to see legendary performances that we might not have done otherwise. It doesn't stop you from listening to your favourite recording at home.

But there's so much of it out there, I thought this thread might be a good way to become alerted to great playing we might otherwise never stumble upon for ourselves.

In a very small room apparently. Or millions of them.

Yeah, for me, I don't really care about vocals as such. I tend to zone them out, I don't think they ever did any instrumental but they did do this 'instructional' video which is live, but more live in the sense of not a recorded music video Wink
