Its fascinating in all its varieties.

But then ... I don't have any lawn Laughing

Moss is just about the only thing that does grow in my garden. It is north facing and surrounded by fucking leylandii. I did try growing some plants and herbs, but the mutts ate them as soon as they started to look half decent. At least from a distance the moss looks nice, a bit like a well trimmed lawn.

Ehhhhh, yeah. I have lived in one of those sorts of gardens.
They're hard to like.
But good if you like Japanese zen, apparently.

...Liberally apply concrete...

You're not getting old until the first thing you discuss when you meet up is your various ailments and what treatments you're on. If the state and frequency of your urination/ bowel movements comes into it, you have definitely arrived.

Also when your bike club meets up for a hoon about on their sportsbikes and you realise that more than half of the bikes are now over 25 years old but you aren't a classic bike club.

I've been riding bikes other than sports bikes, and cough cough, haven't hated every second cough.

Sorry to say but riding sportsbikes is a sign of old age.

It's all about adventure bikes "biker culture" and retro hipster nonsense these days. Horsing about the countryside at three figure speeds on 100+ bhp bleeding-edge road razors popping wheelies and being chased by police in cars which had absolutely no chance of catching you is so 90's.

Remember, the youngest bikers on the road today were born in 2004... The same year the Long Way Round came out.

NOW do you feel old?

I think you're properly old when you own a set of those bag clips that hold a part full bag of crisps/pasta/nuts or frozen peas/chips/prawns shut (and fresh).

Oh, and a set of cake forks Laughing

Do you spend more time in the "grinds my gears" thread and politics section of BCF than the bike sections and threads? You're past it Laughing

I've never owned a sports bike and probably never will.
I think younger people probably have the same mentality as me, i.e. don't bother playing a game you can't win. And you really can't win. The ones who win have been trained since childhood, they win the MotoGP, and they don't ride on the road. If you can reach those heights then of course you should try. Otherwise you're competing with flakey mates to be the first to lose their licence or get their manually-propelled 4 wheeler, if you catch my drift. Plus the boys hang lower year by year, so there's that comfort problem. I do appreciate that there's another pov, and I think it's valid as well: just get what makes you happy because life is short.

Are you Janet's son? Didn't you run the local pub for a while when the skiffle band had that big fight over a woman?
