Hi Fellas,
I really appreciate the warm welcome!
Yeah i must admit i am a bit apprehensive of doing my CBT, i have this vision of the place being full of 17 year olds, and me wobbling about like an old git as the kids snigger lol.
I'm up near sunny Middlesbrough and i have heard "Train to Ride" are pretty decent, so i will be giving them a shout in a couple of weeks.
As for first bike..... I'm guessing it will be the usual cheapy, such as Kymco vsr or a Lexmoto LXR. I'm not sure if they will be any good at this price level, but i guess the warranty will give some piece of mind. However - I am open to advice for first learner bike!
Cheers

If you’re going to do your DAS then don’t bother getting a 125cc bike at all. I’m doing my DAS and bought a 125cc after I did my CBT. Before I did, all the guys on here told me to not bother but I ignored it and got one anyway. In hindsight they were totally right: getting a 125cc is a waste of money no matter how you try to sell the idea of it to yourself.
As life is cyclic you’ll probably ignore this like everyone does (including myself!) and get a bike then a few months done the line be thinking “why the fuck did I get this brand new bike and now I need to sell it because I want a real motorbike”.
And thus the cycle continues ____________________ PRESENT: 2018 BMW S1000XR SE Sport.

There is a definite split between those who think spending a few months on a 125 did a world of good for thier confidence and those who pretty much regretted not going straight to full license it's a personal thing. As odd as it may seem to a learner (and you will notice this straight away if you go das) is that larger bikes are actually more confidence inspiring when riding and also if you are 6ft and 18st like me better get used to the sound of a 125 engine screaming when trying to get above 50 on a slight incline
Also dont worry about the day. My CBT I was the oldest 49 there was 2 guys in thier mid 30's 3 guys in thier 20's and one teenager and we all had a great day. Once you are on the bike you will forget about everything else believe me. |
