Hi WATP, and welcome to the forum.
Do you like armour? Maybe you have a jacket with back and elbow protectors, trousers with knee protectors, plus of course your helmet and gloves.
Here on BCF, you might sometimes need something a little tougher. I'm thinking along the lines of...

https://i.pinimg.com/originals/aa/81/13/aa81132f84c700c709bfdee22ae86a58.jpg

And make sure your sword is sharp too.
I guess just chewing the fat is overrated here Laughing

Been to look at a a Kawasaki z1000sx , tbh just fancied a change regarding the bandit , and a bit more go , but never riding a Z, I'm hoping a few may throw a few suggestions in the hat..

Last year I had a Z 1000sx on loan for the day.
I liked it, very very easy to get into treble mph.
If I was going for another big four cylinder bike , it would be very high on my list.
I didn’t find it to heavy or fearsome, but it could certainly shuffle when it needed to.

I only had it for a day, so my experience is limited.

I also had a Ducati 1200 Hypermotard for a day.
I nearly put my hand in my pocket for that one.

Bucketloads of bottom end grunt.
A real license shredder.
Really quick Smile Thumbs Up

1000sx is brilliant. Very comfortable and unless you really will go off road, a top choice. I ride a 790 adventure, if I was going 4cyl litre again it'd be my go to bike.

Just my view, but...

If you have to do a lot of motorway riding (and no one really enjoys that), a litre IL4 would always be my choice. Smooth, effortless power, unfussed. Character isn't something I'd be too concerned about, given that the word often describes flaws.

MarJay (member on here for OP's information) went for the GSX1000 over the 1000SX, think he preferred the handling and brakes. So another possibility to look at.

Thank you...very good point about the motorways , although I don't do loads of miles on them it's usually the biggest part of the trip to get where you want to, and numb hands and feet aren't fun are they. I looked at a naked gsx-s1000 but the wind blast Etc

I spend all day on the 790. The only changes I've done to it is a coolcovers seat cover and a different screen. It's a lot lighter than the tiger 800 it replaced and it's obvious. 5k miles since June and I love it.

They do a faired version, which is what MarJay has - it was one of his criteria when looking for something.
Still, if you're set on the 1000SX, I don't think you'll go far wrong.

What's the seat height like on the 790 kentol? Are they silly high they look a bit better than some of KTMs usual offerings

The 790 is a easier to hop on and off than a tiger 800 or Africa twin. The seat in low set is just right.

Thanks kentol bought a z1000sx , but saw a 790 for £6999 with 3000 miles was very tempted but having not even sat on one , didn't fancy driving to Glasgow from the midlands, do like them though.

I'd have another z1000sx in a flash if I didn't have to ride it doing cbts, at 20mph behind a moped it'd get a little tedious.

I can't understand why they are made to look like one bike made out of two different coloured scrap ones. Other than that, Thumbs Up
