Something else to consider with using a low cc bike is when you then buy the bike you want, which will no doubt be some 600cc plus thing, insurers sometimes ask what the previous bike was, going from 50cc to 600cc may out you in a higher risk category.

I'd look into old 50cc peds, buy a project one for about 100 quid. They're really cheap to insure also.

Facebook marketplace is where id take a look

Could you just move the insurance policy to a mate's bike?

if it's just to keep insurance going I have a KLE frame and V5 you can have for free. They've been at the back of my dad's lockup for decades but the vin is still readable i'm sure.

It's currently on SORN as J778 MLM and has been since the engine exploded in 2012 and I cannibalised it for parts.

It's called a "speed hole". Makes it go faster cos it weighs less.

Reminds me of someone about 15 years ago who wanted to make his bike lighter by drilling holes in the frame. Wouldn't have been as bad if he wasn't 20-odd stone himself. Laughing

Have you tried flogging the reg number at all? There are plenty of weirdos out there who will pay £££ for an old-style plate like that and it would surely be worth a try

Funnily enough Fisty mentioned that whilst delivering the frame.
