Hi All,

I'm new to biking and i bought a brand new keeway superlight 125 and after a week or so of my step dad riding it whilst i was getting ready for my cbt he managed to, shall we say drift it across the floor on some gravel and the rear break has completely come off.

I know this is a Chinese bike and nobody in my local town really wants to touch it so i figured i'd message on a forum and if anyone has an idea if i can do it myself.

https://tinyimg.io/i/iLT8jpn.JPG

https://tinyimg.io/i/kaqUrjt.JPG

the "plug"wont go into the hole, even when i apply pressure it sometimes drips what i think is break fluid out.

Worth a shot of asking i guess!

Cheers

Owen

Fuck me ragged. Where's the bolt thats supposed to hold it on?

Take it back to where you bought it and ask them nicely to fix it.

The pin on the pivot is definately part of the master cylinder for the brake but quite how it's supposed to go in is anyone's guess from those pictures.[/b]

You're going to need a new rear brake master cylinder, that one is now dead I think.

What a poor design. What crazy idiot puts the master cylinder there? I think if you don't know that's broken, then it's probably good if you take it to a trained mechanic and have it fixed.

Does the end of the pin and the end of the master cylinder unscrew? Not that it makes any odds because if the pin has been ripped out of the bit that's supposed to stop it moving any further its buggered anyway.

The pin does not go into the rubber end, it presses against it. The rubber cap acts like a cover for the diaphragm/plunger. When the brake pedal is pressed, the pin attached to the pedal presses onto the end of the cylinder where the rubber cap is. There is an indentation/cup that the end of the pin fits in on the cap but the pin does not go through the end. To fit it all back together, unbolt the pin from the pedal, attach the brake pedal to the bike, seat the end of the pin in the receptacle in the end of the cylinder and then bolt the pin to the pedal making sure the pin stays seated.

Looks like hose that connects the fluid reservoir havs been gubbed in the 'drift' too.
That will most probably need an OEM part to repair it.
The Chinky stuff is as tough as 3D Printed Pasta so the slightest error when starting something in a thread is usually disastrous.
Be ultra careful when screwing things in.
And do not over tighten anything.
Unforgiving shite.

All the best for the test. Thumbs Up

I'd also have a look at the footplate, see if it's a bit bent out of shape. They fold up but will only go so far if the bike gets dropped.

These ppl helped on my rebuild:

Hope the master cylinder is salvageable otherwise a new one is £100 Shocked

I've got the footbreak back on now, it works fine as Martin said it was just like a plunger rather than trying to force it in.

The only thing is, it's dripping a bit of break fluid out of the hose - which i might have to get it into a garage to get sorted.

Clean off the fluid, wait a bit and see where the fluid is coming from. I'd say it's even money that it's actually coming from the top of the master cylinder and running down to the hose, rather than coming from the hose.
