I'm new this forum and just thought I would say hi. I have been given a honda hornet 600 1999. It has 13,000 miles on the clock, it was used as a track bike but I have took my time to put it back on the road changing sprockets from a 47t to 43t and just basic maintenance to get it back on the road. Will this bike be a suitable 1st bike for a beginner rider? I have ridden plenty of 125cc but started to find it boring and pretty bland. I do alot of long rides and literally travel as much as I can on a bike because well let's face it, cars are practical just no where near as fun. [/u]

I do. I passed quite a few years ago now just haven't made the transition to a bigger bike, due to mainly using the car for practicality.

I think you might need more positive "karma" and/or a higher post count before you can link to images. It's a right f*cking PITA but it's meant to protect against sock accounts posting images that knacker up the ad revenue or some such blarney.

That's good to know. I wasted yesterday afternoon chatting with a guy who said he wanted to buy my bike, who let me run through everything and explain everything, before telling me he didn't have a licence...

The Hornet is one of the late 90s 600cc 4-cylinder standard road bikes that used to dominate the market. Bound to be good for everyone - beginners to advanced. Unless they're really tall and lanky, probably.

Yeah I passed a while back just never managed to get around to getting a bigger bike due to work commitments ect. Tire kicking then basically, That would be bloody annoying to be fair did he even have any intentions?

Perfectly excellent first bike. The only downside I seem to remember is that they haven't got the largest tank and range is a bit restricted. That's nothing more than a small annoyance though.
