I used a Halfords version a few months ago. My repair was by no means invisible but it passed the MOT and the chip hasn’t developed into the normally inevitable crack.

At that price you haven't really anything to lose unless it is right in your sight line and interferes with your vision. If it's that case I suppose I'd go for a professional repair.

Basically you're filling the crack with clear rubber. Make sure the area is clean and free of grit, works well with "crater" impacts more than actual cracks.

Any blokes with works vans for windscreen repair near you? If there are might be worth asking them if they want to earn a little cash. My last chip got fixed for £10.

Properly meaning someone does the same thing but with a vacuum pump and costs me twice as much.

But comes with a guarantee, will be to a professional standard, and isn't likely to fail.

I had a loud impact noise last week sounding like a stone hitting my windscreen. Nothing visible. 2 miles or so later a fantastic crack a foot long leapt across my field of vision. Bollocks! I doubt that’ll be fixable by a DIY kit....

Check your insurance for glass cover, chips can cost less than £20.

Use the tired and rusted Ribenapigeon Bodge it an' Scarper method.

Stretch a sheet of Stretch and Seal over it.

Jobbie Jobbied. Thumbs Up
