Have a watch of this video, do not read the description before you watch it.
When you see it for the first time, you'll be thinking "I never knew that was a cover version"!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXEh9e7VL7k

Enjoy!

It's a very clever video by a very clever musician and video editor!

I admit, the first time I saw it I really did think "I never knew that was a cover version"!

I find the whole thing mesmeric, I could listen to it on a continuous loop!

It did lead me onto Joe Morello, Dave Brubeck's drummer, just wow!

If you've never heard of the amen break, that's a video that will blow your mind a bit. Because you have heard the amen break. It's in nearly everything.

Then watch 4 chords by axis of awesome.

I was thinking more about Joe Morello's story and the fact that he is the godfather of 5/4 time.

4 chords, pah, I can do most of my gigs with 3! Laughing

Music is not infinite, when you break it down, there are a finite number chord progressions that sound pleasing to western ears, there's simply no way around that fact

You know the really annoying BT/GPO ring tone?

Thats 5/4 time. Think about it.

Ring, ring, one, two, three, ring, ring, one, two, three.

^^^Agreed, I'd be more inclined to pick up if it were in 6/8.

Or less inclined if it was on the 1 ...like a James Brown tune.

YouTube recommended me this last week. Thought it was just one of those clever mash-ups, I do like a bit of sax though Smile
