bikes with the lightest clutch

I had to wait around at the mechanics I use because he was dyno-ing some horrendously loud old suzuki POS. I stayed outside until the cacophonous torturing subsided. But whilst out there, bored, I started wandering around feeling the clutch pulls on the bikes booked in.

I was a bit surprised by how many seemed not to be as light as my by now pretty well hammered zx9r c2 (still on its original cable btw) - even quite posh stuff like a late tuono twin w/ hydraulic clutch. I thought at least that would be nice and light, but no - it actually wasn't. Nor even a vfr800 - I thought for sure that would be ergonomically pleasant. Not really though.

I wondered what bikes do actually have nice, light clutches?

My mark 2 Versys was superlight despite having a cable that had done over 100k. I think it only has 3 springs or something. The hydraulic clutch on my new ST12 is soooo heavy in comparison.

The recent Z1000SX/Ninja 1000SX have an assist slipper clutch which is so light it's almost uncanny.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I'll tell you what isn't light. Those old Ducati dry clutches from the last century (pre 2000ish Laughing

I remember riding some Ducati through Stratford on Avon when we did a bike swap on a rideout. My wrist was in agony after a few miles of stop start traffic.

Back in the day my mate had a BSA Bantam. The clutch was so heavy the bike was an absolute nightmare to ride in traffic.
