Value Added Tax VAT

Compound tax included in any sale of goods that are not exempt.

The more folk who stamp on the goods the more vat accrued by HMRC

Tory Tax.

https://www.gov.uk/vat-rates

The bottom line is that the person who is not Vat Registered pays all of the vat accrued/added.

Or the last buyer if a business asset.

Then it will get silly due to business tax and business expense reports.

I think it's not to do with VAT it's to do with rules around selling vehicles. I don't think they give 2 shits who they sell to, but and its a big one--- A regular car dealer who sells a car ( or van ) that is duff and the clutch ( lets just say) goes will have to pay to replace it or you have the right in law to your money back and hand the car back.

With a trade sales it's like buying a car off a bloke in a pub car park, or an auction- there is absolutely no come back...... So therefore it should be 'Considerably' cheaper. Similar to a private sale. Even after the the VAT , whether stated in the price or not has been taken into consideration.

Me and my mate used to buy a few of the trade-ins from a big car showroom " Ken Thornes World of Cars" in Cardiff 'Guaranteed £1000 for your old car/van' and loads of cars in a posh showroom. Smartly dressed shyster salesmen hovering about. "This car only £30 a week"- yeah for about 300 years. Sort of place you would go if you had no money and a duff car with no MOT.

My mate said 'They aren't primarily selling cars here, it's money lending', I think he was right, easy credit for people up shit creek.
A sort of precursor to Wonga - payday lending, for poor families with a dead car.

Caveat Emptor

I've been riding, and fixing , bikes for 50 years, in that time the more I learn, the less I am absolutely sure of.....
