Hello Mateypeeps,

We followed a bijou car today that was a Hyundai (according to the logo under the rear window) and it was shaped like a Mk1 Audi TT in that it had rounded front and rear and looked like the same shape going backwards or forwards except more feminine (yes it is possible) and small enough to have picked it up and put it my pocket.

Didn't look mega recent a model but I'd say within the last 10 years. Any ideas? I can't find anything and what's the point of a BCF if it is not for things like this?

An early one of those perhaps?

Thanks but no, what we saw was far, far more feminine and bijou. Like a smaller Suzuki Cappuccino. Possibly a hardtop/convertible.

So not a Daihatsu Copen? And not a Honda S660?

I didn't think Hyundai made anything with a folding / soft lid!

Aw fuck I'm old. It is indeed a Copen. I forgot the make from seeing the car and creating a post about it. We need never speak of this incident ever again. I bid you good day, sir.

Ha! this is BCF, the shame always lingers

The thread did remind me of a modern, bijou, retro looking car I see locally that always had me wondering what it was so started googling
Just found out is a Nissan Figaro

This, if anybody is wondering, is the Copen

Which is, under the retro flavour skin, a Micra with a 1.0ltr turbo engine and an auto box - depending on your point of view, it's either a nerdfest of interesting, or a hideous rotbox.

Either way, people will spend an awful lot of money on them, for no good reason I can think of.

Mrsstinkwheel used to have copen. A total hoot to drive.

Kai cars are great fun. I'd love a Honda S660 but £££.

I'd drive a Copen but obviously with the roof up and nowhere I'd be spotted.

Kei Smile

S660 are crazy money here - an S2000 is cheaper. And an S660 is not THAT good.

Copen are still cheap enough as the Cappuchinos. A Mazda AZ1 is almost hens teeth and Beats are going silly money as well.

Don't miss out on the Honda Element also and sack off the S660 and get yourself a nice S800 instead.

Can't recommend an S2000 enough though!

Are you sure it wasn't a Hyundai Mooncup?
I've heard they're very snug and bijou.

That is bloody beautiful.

I can remember when the likes of A35's, moggy 1000's and 2CV's were pretty well joke cars. I'd love one now. Well, maybe not a 2CV but any of the others. Laughing

Also from 1965 except this little 1000cc rocket redlined at almost 10krpm. We were still running around in A series powered stuff.

I'd love one.

Used to see an awful lot of them parked in Brighton, which both explained the kind of people who were buying them, and the sea air making them rot even faster.

Indeed, they are also popularly repainted in various shades of pink, so that's another clue.

So we can add small roadsters to the list of things this country made then overtaken by the Japs.
