With the results starting to come in from the council elections and Hartlepool going Tory it doesn't look good for Labour. Already the knives are out for Starmer with the ugly one calling for a return to far left policies that were so successful under Corbyn
What can Labour do to win back voters because as happy as I am to see them get a good kicking a government with no valid opposition is heading towards totalitarianism.
Can a new party rise as Libdems don't ever really get anywhere and Greens are too much a one trick pony for a lot of people. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

"Sir Keir" is more of the same. Comes across as a Tory in red clothing. Feels like he'd be more at home rubbing shoulders with JRMogg than drinking a pint at the local.
Labour don't appear to offer anything different. Perhaps in policy on paper, but not in the people you see on the ballot sheet (or more importantly, on the telly).
Tories have supposedly "ended austerity" which people are happy about.
Home ownership continues to rise.
People are mostly in favour of how the pandemic has been handled, and particularly the vaccine roll out.
Labour are still the best chance of a proper opposition, but they need a complete shake up. I'd hoped Keir might be the man for the job but where Corbyn was "Idealistic old hippy" Sir Keir, perhaps unfairly, comes across as "Out of touch rich guy" - they need a leader who people feel they can related with.
Keir needs to drop the "Sir", be seen in a pair of jeans and t shirt, do more community engagement, and work on the party image. They need policies that really resonate with the average voter, and they need to do more to get themselves seen as a valid and most importantly "different" alternative to the Tories, else people think "better the devil you know" and tick the Tory box again. ____________________ I am a bellend, I am a man of constant sorrow, I am a gummy bear, I am a rock. |

I saw Jonathan Pie's typical anti-Tory rant yesterday and I just knew the LuLz would be there for me today
If you've not seen Sky News absolutely savaging the Labour dude from Hartlepool then it's so, soooo worth a watch
https://twitter.com/addicted2newz/status/1390486757460807681?s=20
And he's right. Labour continue to miss the point - by representing middle class luvvieduv supposed liberals and clamouring after minority lost causes rather than supporting the working classes that should be the core of their voting base.
Already today we've seen more of the same old same old - the working class people that vote Tory are stupid, turkeys voting for Christmas, they don't even deserve the vote, we're better than them.
Imagine being a working class voter and voting for a party that you know full well despises you, and to which you add absolutely no political advantage....... Oh apart from your vote, which they'll never get, because they don't GAF about you and your kind.
The only bad thing about all of this is the complete lack of a centrist, reliable, credible opposition party meaning the Tories can be as crap as they like and just get away with it. |

They field shit candidates. Generally most these days are shit and never had a real job but our local Labour one was particularly shit, Gay (in a ram it down your throat way), loud, snowflake, barely old enough to shave, tenuous links to local area. In comparison the Tory incumbent has lived life and can hold his own talking policy.
I voted Labour because I'd rather castrate myself with a blowtorch than vote Tory but to be honest the Tory candidate was vastly better.
PCC's were the best check out this twat https://www.change.org/p/association-of-police-and-crime-commissioners-vote-of-no-confidence-in-jonathon-seed
*edit* - That criminal PCC candidate is Tory btw so almost certain to win.

Labour has joined the Lib Dems as a party of irrelevance as far as I'm concerned. This is tragic, because it means there is currently no effective opposition to the Tories. I have my eye on ReformUK, under Richard Tice. I'd like to hear more from them, as what I've heard thus far sounds promising to me, but they just don't get the exposure for people to know enough about them, and MSM isn't going to help. That's maybe the most important thing now - to get a balanced media without agenda of its own, but how you do that from where we are now is beyond me. Perhaps Andrew Neil's new channel will be the start of that when it kicks off.
I think the people of this country don't like "woke". At some point, as long as we remain a democracy, that's going to come through. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Starmer needs to keep the fight going, he can't quit now or change what direction he's steering the party in. |

Basically, Labour continuing in the direction they are going = , as the Hartlepool result illustrates. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Which part? If a certain part shifts any further left, they'll fall off the edge
Brexit showed the rejection of the other part, and is constantly proved the correct decision by those crazy EUropeans. And Macron, but he's French, so that's to be expected ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017
