Hire UK workers to drive lorries, minister tells firms
Quote:
Businesses have been told to prioritise hiring UK-based workers rather than relying on labour from abroad to fix a shortage of lorry drivers.

Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng rejected calls from firms to loosen immigration rules, saying it would be a "short-term temporary solution".

Quote:
businesses should instead be "utilising the strength of our domestic workforce".

Hoo-bloody-ray! Yet this is a Conservative minister saying it, and sadly I just can’t envisage a modern Labour Cabinet saying it with any conviction. If the Conservatives are now, extraordinarily, the party of the working man then yes, Labour are finished. Worrying that we’re becoming a one-party state though.

Incidentally, I believe there are driver shortages in Europe too and it’s not a new thing.

Anyone want a raffle on how long Keir Starmer is going to last? Labour are tearing themselves apart when they should be laughing and pointing at the Tories.
Shadow cabinet member Andy McDonald quits in protest at Sir Keir Starmer

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-58713175

And when all one of your most powerful members is just getting bad headlines for using insulting language you've lost the plot.
Labour conference: Angela Rayner stands by calling Boris Johnson 'scum'
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-58708009

And now we have the other awful bitch of the Labour party wading in to support Keir's somewhat medical inaccuracies.
Labour conference: Emily Thornberry backs Sir Keir Starmer over trans row

They are all fucking idiots.

Sadly (because we need a viable alternative on the voting card even if I don’t dislike Boris’ government) a vote for Labour is now a vote for the politics of resentment, hate*, low-intellect and mismanagement.

* and if you’re thinking they’re a caring party supporting BAME LGBTQ minorities remember they all hate each other too.

Men can have cervixes, but as far as I'm aware the things you need to do to women to get them are illegal.

Former Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith says he is fine after street attack

One of many Conservative supporters attacked - I assume as it's Manchester - by Lefties. (If it turns out they're actually Tory voters disappointed that they got The Party Formally Known As Conservative after the last election I'll eat my hat*)

It's the same moral bankruptcy that declares "it's okay to punch a Nazi" which you might think is fine except that the definition of Nazi is anyone without blue tints in their hair and pronouns in their bio Sad

Hey, why have we ignored The Liberals as potential perpetrators of this…. Oh wait…

Politics sucks. But I think I can see something looming on the horizon here, tied in with Labour, and it isn't nice. In short, I think someone's playing with fire, and it will backfire in a nasty way. It's like a brand new blowtorch in the hands of children. Nothing wrong with the technology but it has to be used with some common sense. And there's nothing "common" up there in the realm of British politics.

If there's one lesson we can learn from history, it's that people don't learn from history. It's natural to want to prevent the great disasters of the 20th century and to teach kids about the dangers of nationalism, militarism and imperialism. However, look at what got a free pass. Animal Farm? Stalin's gulags? How many dehumanised "bourgeoisie" (i.e. people who just owned a bit of land) did Mao kill in 4 years? Of course, they haven't been taught any of that. So, is that going to be the next outlet for rearranging the distribution of resources and establishing a new elite? Hmm... Bet none of you here ever thought of yourselves as the bourgeois enemies of the people. But you (and me) are an easier target than Jeff Bezos. We may be the canaries down the mine.

Knight of the Realm Sir Just Act Normal isn't going to quell leftist radicalisation, whether he wins the next election or whether he doesn't. It will only be of interest to people over the age of 40. It's what comes AFTER him that's the problem. In fact, this radicalisation is slipping right under the radar, and there are no fuseboxes for this. We're being toyed with and manipulated, but what's coming out of the woodwork right now has a strong whiff of early 20th century utopianism. I especially dislike the new testbeds for street violence: "here is our line in the sand" [is it really?]. It's coming.

Estimates for how many were killed in total are somewhere around the 50-60 million mark for Mao, in order to achieve the socialist utopia. Stalin around 20 million.

Having watched the highlights? is that the right word? of the Labour Conference all I can say is they're a violent lot. The howls of transphobic attacks at the conference (by someone that looked like a bulldog in a wig) where only outdone by the blatant racism and sexism of the normal running. TBH I think the Jews got off lightly Shocked

Not to worry though, once the good ship Labour has sunk they can move onto hollowing out the Conservatives given they're now led by Carrie "Stalin" Symonds.

"...and I am a trans-woman" really? would never have guessed!

The references to "fascist Tories" is that just delusion or jealousy that the Conservatives are now further Left than Labour?
