The entire world is fiction at the moment. I refuse to believe it can be reality when it's this stupid. This is exactly the game the Tories are playing now as well though. They've shifted further left of Blair's Labour by buying votes. Now they're there, they're trying to keep the votes with ridiculous and unachievable green claims.

That isn't a Labour tactic at all, Labours eternal problem is what they offer by the very nature of being progressive costs. Vote buting is the traditional tactic of the Conservative party. It's alway been a mystery how a party gets into power that represents the interests of the very rich, a tiny minority. It's always been done by buying votes, just like their pals in the city they buy when the market is cheap then sell out later and profit. We all know that somewhere down the road those new blue voters the Tories bought with Brexit will be sold down the river. |
You mean what Labour offers is uncosted.
I’m also reminded of the audience member on Question Time who berated the Labour Party for going after his money, not realising that at £80k he was a member of the very rich. They never explain how they’re going to tax the minority super-rich without changing the law or driving them and their money out of the country. “Ordinary people” would have to pay, not the super rich, not even the very rich.
The UK’s two-party pendulum politics works because it keeps us somewhere in the middle on average, and avoids an ineffective coalition. I used to think the Libs deserved a shot and would bring the best of both worlds but in fact when they offer ‘the middle ground’ no one knows what that actually means. Clegg’s weak contribution to the Con-Lib coalition didn’t help. Labour’s current weak opposition is keeping the pendulum to one side as well, which ought to be unfortunate, although I’m not unhappy with what the Tories are doing at the moment. It’ll go bad without restraint though. |

We don't half have some scumbags as politicians nowadays. (In all parties). Labour seem to have problems picking decent black politicians as well.

Wait and see how it pans out, then say you’d have taken the action which would have been correct.
Also not impressed by the old, “Let me answer that directly…” sentence starter. |

Weren't manifest commitments the lever Boris and co used to get into power? If I recall, there was a pretty large one on the side of a bus that turned out to be a bare-faced lie, but the electorate still bought it because it wanted a cuddly fool rather than a crusty socialist. ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Tis' true that Labour doesn't have a track record of recent Government. Tis' also true that the Conservatives do, and we are being lied to and laughed at daily by the Bullingdon Club as they line their own pockets at the expense of ordinary taxpayers.
I fear we suffer from a bad case of 'better the devil you know', which has to be cue for a song...

Well it's curtains for that MP. He won't retain his seat as Labour. If he wants to contest it then he will have to be selected against the existing Labour candidate and get the current Labour membership to back him instead. Bear in mind he is a "f***ing Tory", and they are the local bash the Tory hardliners. He's got about as much chance as Nigel Farage of being selected as the Labour candidate. What a fool
And obviously he can't stand for the Tories because he jumped ship and they'll give the spot to No2 on the list. |
