The Vity is, to my mind, almost like a motorized office chair. The small wheels make it very sensitive to body movement at 40+mph. Scooters with larger wheels are less sensitive but still much more so than a big bike.
The sensitivity to body movement - being able to apply "body English" to quickly alter the roll angle - is IMO the defining riding characteristic of scooters. It makes them extremely agile when filtering in tight traffic at city speeds.
If you have to go long distances at higher speeds, motorbikes are undoubtedly better. But if I was touring a scenic area on narrow, low-speed mixed-use (pedestrians, cyclists) roads, I'd prefer a scooter to a motorbike. Much easier to slide on and off for photo opportunities, easier to do a U-turn on, and so on. ____________________ Bikes: S1000R, SH350; Exes: Vity 125, PS125, YBR125, ER6f, VFR800, Brutale 920, CB600F, SH300x4

This is true, but over the last couple of years I’ve gotten accustomed to the sensitivity and I’m kind of ok with it, but I’m still really uncomfortable with how vague the front end is, even at reasonably low speed, 90 degree turns are a lottery it feel like the front is going to tuck and I’ve got no confidence in it, the fact that you sit on top of a scoot and there’s no weight on any part of your body except your backside makes it worse.
I’m keen to try some other scooters for comparison and probably will try and test ride some ones I’ve got my licence but I’m not holding out much hope, the ER6 I’ve been doing my training on feels better in every way, other than in dense traffic, but I don’t think a burgman would be that much better there. ____________________ Yamaha Vity 125 (gone) Kawasaki ER6N(dead) 2022 Royal Enfield Meteor 350 (nicked) 2003 DL1000 V Strom |

Some people are just in denial/the closet. I've ridden a mates X-adv maxi scooter and it was a fucking hoot. At-least, it is once you find how to put it in sports mode. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. More than likely he is enjoying the 400 Burgman he's bought and will never give this place a second thought |
