Getting it in the neck from the wife about the motorcycle cover. We get high winds (>20mph) only a few times a year but that's enough for her to have a pop about it rustling too much Sad

Anyhoo, type in "heavy duty cover" into your Google/Amazon/eBay and you get typical tissue paper rubbish that is clearly not as advertised. Is there a particular buzzword I should be looking for? I'm thinking either a canvas-like material or maybe stretch fit like a motorbike sock Thinking

Before you ask: most of the covers look to be cheaper than a divorce Wink

Mate I got an Oxford cover that was supposedly sized to my bike and it blows up like a weather balloon when it's windy. I'm also in the market for a decent rain cover.

Couple of elastic bungees over the top help keep it in place. One around the mirrors up front, and one around the seat at the back.

There's a Boche company goes by the name of Wunderlich.
They make/market s4it 4 The BMW aficionado.

A lot of their stuff is Cafe-Off-Roader shite.

But their bike covers are good. Maybe more expensive than a divorce solicitor though. Rolling Eyes

UK supplier for their shite is Nippy Normans. They are OK to deal with too. Fairly decent service.

A bike can be blowed over if a cover is fitted. So that needs to be considered too. I think tying the beast down onto a couple of 5kg weights before the cover is fitted would help maintain a degree of equilibrium.
But a phaph if on a busy street.

Mmmm, the wind screams past the front of my house so I usually move the bike nose first into the wind if the reports say >40mph. That was enough speed for the Keeyway (but luckily only fell on grass so no damage.)

Any opinions on the Oxford Rainex and Stormex covers?

My opinion on Oxford products is not encouraging.

I've had a couple of miserable fails out of three or four purchases.

This. Bungees for the win. I use crap ones that no longer hold shit to the bike.

I have "Neverland" covers from Amazon, various sizes available. Thick enough I'm not worried about them ripping, especially with bungees round them, reducing the sail effect. Lasted a couple of years so far, no sign they'll not do another couple as well. Lock passthrough at one end.

How about tarpaulin? I was gonna say canvas then saw you'd already used it...
As suggested previously, I used bungees, on the odd occassion it was outside.

That'll rip the paint of your tank in weeks if it's anywhere near the bike in a breeze.

So, anyway ... *serious, straight face* ...

My windcover's a bit annoying too. In windy conditions it flaps (silently Laughing ) but it sets off the noisy disk lock I have on the bike, kind of annoying the neighbours somewhat.

Ooo, that reminds me, haven't finished locking/covered it over tonight yet.
Best get gone and do that Shifty

Hellers tippee-toeing down the tenement stairs in her fleecy goony and pink ostrich/emu feather trimmed slipper mules to secure her Hog to the lampost.

Did you not see my FB post about my fluffy leopard slippers in which I foolishly tried to run across the road in front of a number 147 bus?

(What is a goony?)

(The mules are red and they are Chinese knock-off Fredericks of Hollywood, hence too small as Chinese would never have feet in a size 8 Laughing )

I use a tie-down strap around the middle of my cover, helps massively with the flapping.

As for the wife's flapping, I dunno, a gag maybe? Laughing

Miss-spelling of a Scottish word for a Nightgown.

Goonie – Nightgown

I had this amazing cover called a Gauntlet by a company called IMCA. I dont think exist anymore which is a shame because i had that cover for 15 years before it went hard and split. Now i am using a JMP cover which has a heat proof soft lining, elastic ends and a buckle strap underneath. Its a nice cover. It never comes off in the wind.

Garage. Failing that, a shed.

I had to build the wife a shed when I caught her trying to put her bicycle in the garage. Well worth it.
