I have a Commell LV677DC I've had for years and kinda love it
With its onboard parallel port It ran the CNC for ages nae bother and will run from a 12V psu too.
Just a Core2duo T7200 cpu and max 3Gb ram but its still nifty IMO
and will get an SSD soon which will sharpen it up
I run win7/32 on it and it also runs the design software USB scope stuff
and other older utilities just fine.

I recently picked up a solid alloy mini ITX case from Freegle and it had
a non responsive Intel atom N270 Mobo
the benchmark for the N270 cpu was shite (175 ish) so I binned it

I just found out it was a Cubit3 circa 2003

Now I'm musing over a new ( cheapish) mobo for it
I dont want or need a game spec machine, just a modest versatile all rounder
12v laptop type supply would be nice
are those Pico 12v in to ATX plug things any good?

Parallel port not essential but could be handy or at least have a PCI slot
I can run one from

I dont really need or want a NASbox but I am thinking mebbe a media server or htpc type use for it or possibly have it my network to occassionally
summon up files and media from.
I'm thinking win7/32 ubuntu/mint i3/5 4gb ram sorta thing?
and dithering over what to go for
So
whatcha got? whatcha do with it?
opinions?

Why even bother with Mini ITX? Just get an Intel NUC with a USB-Parallel cable and call it a day? Much more modern and smaller....

Not my listing, just seems a reasonable deal from the first search on ebay for "lenovo nuc"

I've always gone with the Gigabyte "Ultra durable" range of Mini-ITX motherboards. They're a tier or two below the "Z" boards but never given me any bother.

BTW that pink case looks like it wants an SFX psu.

A small form-factor PSU... mains though. Any particular reason you wanted an external 12volt power supply? I'd consider "self contained" an advantage. Motherboards that are designed to accept an exterior 12v supply versus the usual ATX connector tend to be less powerful.

This may be of interest:
