Pretty much just asking for your experiences or expected experiences for this year.

My friend has invited me, however after 5 months hiatus not sure how smart of an idea it is. I took the bike out already but surely the stamina and skill has dropped for such a thing.

I take that back. Clicking 'further information' reveals all, ironically!

I had no idea this was a thing but sounds like a good cause! Bit short notice to start trying to get donations though. I'll mull it over the next couple of days Thinking

Not sure if it's hell fun, or the most pointless 1000 miles I would do.

I'd rather remove my testicles with a blunt spoon.

Sense of personal achievement maybe? Taking oneself that bit closer to the dream Ewan McGregor Charley Boorman achieved? Bit of a self indulgent thing to do, there's got to be easier ways of raising £50 for the poppy appeal surely? But if it's self indulgent I'm all over it baby.

That's mostly it I think, plus my ride buddy is going away next year (sad amirite). I had a lot of fun on 400 mile rides but it involved visiting loads of places too so unsure how it feels like.

If you do join, make sure you bring that jerry can you mentioned along Razz

LOL is overused these days, but this one did actually make me LOL.

If you do partake, which route would you do?

Same.

My initial thought was the southern route as that's where I live (less distance to travel to and from), but given the fact that you have to start and finish in Leeds... it actually makes no difference whatsoever which route to do. I've travelled around the South and the Midlands quite a bit but the furthest North I've ever been is Windermere / Newcastle. Never been to Scotland so sounds like a good adventure and I'm sure the scenery is to die for. Not fussed which way round.

Anyone got a list of scenic/panoramic view points to take photos of the bike from along the route?

Yes I've already been to almost land's end, and around the south, plus it's closer so I don't see a point.
I did have the NC500 mapped out for this year but didn't happen, so this should make up for it until I can properly do it. Very Happy

I'd rather sponsor something like that than people riding a bike about. Shall we say a 10 pence a millimetre, no stretching the skin out or turning the thermostat up beforehand.

In for a penny, in for a pound I usually say.

However in this instance I think 10p is all you're going to need.

We're doing route A, the group is up to 4 now! 2 of us might break off if necessary.

I got saturated on the way home from Somerset earlier today. Had to sit in the hot tub for an hour sulking and thawing out before I would talk to anyone.

I'm still in two minds over this...

There's always the annoying waterproofs Very Happy

I'm also unsure of what gear to take. Summer with removable panels for venting, or goretex winter with liners removed....
Scotland doesn't sound very hot.

What does a blunt spoon look like? Asking for a friend.

Spoon shaped with no sharp edges. What did you think it looked like?

I suppose technically you could sharpen a spoon so, yeah, the descriptor is valid.

I don't think I'm going to be able to make it. Too short notice to make the necessary preparations me thinks. So I have donated instead Wink
